    In defence of Rafa.....gulp...

Well, with some of the depression on the site, I thought I would do the unusual and defend Rafa.

Firstly, let me make it clear. We will not win the league under Rafa no matter how much money we give him. He simply has the wroong mentality to win the English League. Gone are the days when you could grind out a league title the way he did in Spain.

Second, look at the state of and compare us with 5 years ago. We consistently achieve Champions League football. Something we were desperate for 5 or 6 or so years ago. Its not too long ago that we were desperate to get into the tournament and failing to do so because of last day defeats to Bradford etc.

Now we are consistently in it, and consistently challenging for it. In the last four years we have one semi final, one final and a victory. How many can boast better than that? Exactly.

The quality of the squad has improved. Look at some of the players we have now. Reina (best keeper we have had sine the Grobb). Skirtel and Agger were superb signings. As indeed were babbel, Torres and Mascher. There are numerous other high quality signings.

I would add that yes Rafa has spent money. But nowhere near as much as ManUre or Chavski. And yet we can compete with them in Europe (if not yet in the league).

We are now firmly back at the top table of European football, and we were scrambling and begging for that 6 years ago.

Now we need to find a way to sort out our domestic problems

    Rafa's got nothing to defend.

Best thing to happen to Liverpool over the last 15 years.

All those who disagree, look at the record books.
    Reece, get off my wife.:whatever:

He HAS spent as much as Man Utd. Not saying i want him out or having a go, but just correcting that point.

Yes. And ours should be good enough to make a title challenge by now.

That's not strictly true, though (given timeframe etc.). Not having a go myself, but it's not as simple as that.

Yes, but Man U have had a strong base to add to. We had the crock from Souness then Evans then Houllier. Its a flawed argument IMO

We should be challenging for the title.

Ok, again, get rid of Rafa, and get who?

Who mthe **** would do such a good job, with the resources we have had.

Jesus, one result against us, and the snipers are out.

                    Kangaroo court anyone?

Of course we should but we don't have the money compared to the likes of Chelsea and Man U. Man U have had quality since the Premiership has started and have been able to add to it. Even when they weren't dominating the PL, they went and got Rooney and Carrick combined at £36 million. We would get no where near that money even if we won the title.
Chelsea were able to start with a clean slate with Ranieri buying anyone and everyone and Mourinho adding to that and now Grant adding to that.

You do realise we've spent the same as the mancs in the PL era?

Yes, but we're not, because the CLUB, and not the manager, have been lagging behind the scum for a fair few years now.

Sometimes, I'd really like the Rafa to quite, and we get someone like, I dunno, Martin O'Neil in, and then the club get really ****ed up, so that, some of you lot, would REALLY have something to moan about.
