El Hadji Diof. We bought him before the world cup and his nickname was serial killer. He was nominated as one the best players at the WC (without scoring a goal, which should have started to ring bells) and Pele of all people had a massive wrap for him. Got to Liverpool and was an absolutely atrocious player on the pitch and a disgraceful person off it. My memories of him are playing on the wing (Ged's favourite position for strikers apparently) and continually falling on his arse. I'd take Cisse over him any day of the week.
"That's how I found myself on the Kop that day I had my blue-and-white scarf safely tucked away inside my coat as I listened to Liverpool songs and swayed with the masses.

Then City scored and I screeched and this big bloke, a Liverpool supporter, made towards me and I thought he was going to throttle me. But he just pulled my scarf from under my coat so it lay on the outside, and said: "You should always be proud of your colours, lad."

Morientes. Class player in a class league. How did that go wrong?
