Irrespective of anything else (& I include the Chelsea OG) that deserves thanks and respect wherever he ends up.

Agreed. He's not good enough and has to go (it'll be overdue in all honesty), but I don't like the abuse he's been getting. To be honest I always feel a bit sad when any long-serving player leaves.

Good luck to him and thanks for the good memories. Some great goals and moments to remember him by.
Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

And if Torres had buried his chances, it wouldn't of mattered if Chelsea had come back at us, cos the confidence would've been there to hit them on the counter...in those final 20 minutes at Anfield, just how many chances did the Chavs have by the way? I don't remember being worried by too much, but i do remember that Arbeloa should never have let the ball come in from that side, that Reina should've got a hand too it, possibly even claimed it, and that Riise's could have used his right peg...and still sliced it into his net, and then everyone would be saying "should've headed it".

And yes, i still think he deserves to be told if he has no future at the club. Or is it the Liverpool way to just let a player go without a word of warning?
I have respect for JAR as a current Liverpool player but it's as clear as day that we need someone better in that position.

Describing Riise as a marauding left back is laugh out loud funny to me.

i'd like to think we treat every player with respect and tbh, if he feels only going to be a reserve, he should look to get a move.

we should be honest with him if he definitely doesnt figure tho.

            Fantastic servant.
            Well said, coulden't agree more!

He might not cut it for the first team anymore, but should still be treated with a lot of respect. He deserves to know whether he is on the move or will get a new contract, simple as. Everybody wants to know if they are about to be offloaded from their work, else it is unbereable.

Would be happy to see him stay on, if he is satisfied with a backup/squad role. Covers a couple of pos.

If/when he leaves, he should get a good finish. Served us well for 7 years and played well for a few seasons.

Am thouroughly dissapointed about the lack of respect some fans are showing a player that has been part of a lot of good memories here, not least an integral part of a few trophies...

              The same goes for Crouch.

needs to go without a doubt. insua looks good and aurelio, if injury free, is a good player. if we can get more than 4 mil sell...

**** all this good servant ****, if he was a new buy for us he'd be out the window already. we need to progress and selling riise will do us good.

The last thing he should be doing is saying he has nothing to prove and asking for answers.

It is all about him. He should know his role and shut his hole.

Jamie Carragher is a "great servant" to the club. Ian Callaghan,Phil Neal and Alan Hansen etc were great servants. Riise came and was a breath of fresh air and scored some great goals and was likeable. Then he got ahead of himself and thought he had it made.

The day you think you have made it is the end of you.

Ive quoted you before on Riise. Theres no need to as

you sum him up again perfectly!

I have little time for sentiment in business unless the business is something like words to the effect of :
'ive had some issues recently that have affected my performance - I understand I havent been upto par but I will be focused moving forward and change that - you'll see this happen straight away'

                    - putting your arm up for offsides in a Cl semi final is what the teach you not to do in school (play to the whistle regardless)
                    - Carragher would have sprinted to Drogba and thrown his body in the way - not 'lets see if my left leg can stop this'
                    - "Stevie - ive been practising my free kicks non stop and please let me see if I can turn one of these into reality to make up for the screw up I did - just give me a chance mate" Free kick doesnt even get close to clearing the wall and hits the Chavs in the waist. SG should have told him to **** off

Sorry - Risse doesnt display to me any significant signs of trying/improvement and although I am sentimental to the 'hes been here years' messages hes not anymore worthy of the shirt.

Thank you and goodbye. We wont ever win the PL with Riise as a first team starter

selling players who have not asked for a transfer means you have to pay off the remainder of the contract as well...so it is not so simple, as you have to subtract that from any fee you get.

And if you recall the first goal we conceded in Athens was from a soft free kick Riise gave away. In the big matches it's the small details that will invariably decide the outcome, and sadly Riise has the capabilities (or perhaps that should be ineptitude) to swing those small details in the opposition's favour, as he did v Chelsea twice in both ties.

If Riise would have sliced it in with his right, it would be down to his own ineptitude and poor technique, and nothing to do with making the wrong choice when deciding whether he should have gone for it with his right leg or with his head. There's no debate there; as poor as Riise is with his right if he went for it with his right leg he would have had a much better chance of controlling the direction of the ball than trying to head it when it was near to the ground. He made the wrong choice. All Riise had to do was prevent Anelka getting to the ball - doesn't necessarily mean he had to head it away or kick it away with his right, he could have cushioned it, blocked it, anything would have been better than what he did.

If it is Rafa's intention to cut Riise loose, which I sincerely hope it is, I'm releived he has chosen not to tell him yet. Riise is ****ing **** enough as it is when he thinks he's playing to impress to win a new contract - can you imagine how **** an indifferent and unmotivated Riise would be?
Could then put Carra, Sami and co in that statement?

Over the past few season Riise aint the strongest defensivly but as a unit we have been excellent.

Form and match practice won't have helped him for the semi

Scapegoat comes to mind. Some players fans turn on and no matter what they do nothing will change that.
could look at every player in turn and see where THEIR mistake led to a goal
The own goal as a team we should of stopped the cross.
Arbeloa - 1st goal wasn't in line with Riise Carra and Sami.

Its so easy to pick out one player and balme them

Do i want better at left back - off course I do - but that goes for every position.

JAR is / was an excellent player. He may have his failings, but he won't be short of suitors when he leaves.

It is a scapegoat mentality getting around. Nobody seems to mention Hyypias penalty in overtime, which was absolutly unnecessary! A mistake that cost us the final one could argue...

Riise might not cut it to be a first team regular anymore, but he does not deserve to words he get from certain fans... If he goes we need another LB in the squad, we can't rely on Aurelio as he is injured two thirds of his career.

On all notes an employee for seven years deserves to know whether he will be kept on or not, goes for football and any other workplace!
