honestly though the pre season is vital for him.
But if he feigns injury then he isn't going to be able to play for us either is he? And he will actually have a pre-season with us if you read the article. It's the beginning of the season he will miss.

And why should he bloody retire, or feign injury? I have no problem whatsoever with players wanting to play for their country. To most it is the ultimate achievement. Just because the majority in this country (especially Liverpool fans) are apathetic towards international football, they shouldn't expect the players to feel the same way.

Oh and then Rage'd sell him in Jan because he's not good enough.
u think we should give him to january!!! ffs come on i'd have sold him last january.

oh and honestly - he isn't good enough, he's struggled with the pace and power of the league and thats why he needs the pre-season.

i actually hope that the lad comes good and proves people like me wrong, but swanning off to the Olympics as far as i'm concerned ain't gonna help him prepare for next season

It's the least he should do.

don't they have to attend some training camp for two weeks before? we'll see how playing in the olympics affects his form in the premiership. and yes your right i really couldn't give a **** about professional football players chasing medals in the ultimate amateur sports competition. regardless of who goes or doesn't i find it leaves a nasty taste in my mouth.

I like Lucas, although I'm starting to think it's the same as when I liked Smicer - I was always willing him to become the great player I knew was tucked away inside him. I hope Lucas sets it up next season, that said he's been tidy.

I think he's had a very good first season, but is still coming to terms with the pace and physicality of the game over here. So he's looked off the pace in one or two games, e.g. the derby.

I do wonder how many people who have slated him in this thread, or said that he has had a poor first season, actually go to the game though as opposed to watching it on TV? I don't mean it as an insult in any way, it's just that I think he's the sort of player that you need to see live to appreciate - one of those you'd describe as a pro's pro, always available, rarely gives the ball away, does the simple things well etc.

Not sure actually - he says he will be here for pre-season and then go to the olympics - but maybe he doesn't mean the whole of pre-season.
