    Evolution.......nothing to worry about.

We have quality players now to take over from Carra and Stevie. And they'll be even better in 3 or 4 years time when maybe Carra and Stevie do decide to hang up their boots.

Gerrard has pulled us out of a hole on many an occassion. I fear for a LFC without him, he's pretty much irreplaceable, and I don't see another midfielder around that is as good as him with an all round game, but he has another 4 years in him yet.

"If Gerrard continues to play up front, leaving this lack of creativity and intelligence in Midfield, the season WILL be over by Xmas."

I still don't think we'll finish in the top 4 this season."

Nope. We've coped for long periods without one or the other in the team.

I think a few people are being too dismissive of SG's talent and importance.

Unlike the 80's we haven't got the depth of talent to not miss him or be in a finanacial position to replace players like SG. He tore up the premiership in his first season and has carried on ever since.

He is the most versatile midfielder in the world without doubt.

Steve will be at his peak for another 4/5 years.

I like Johnson from Man-City, hes no Gerrard but he is a good English lad.
It is not like you have to replace the player like for like, you analyse your quad and look what could be added to make it better.

If we're winning league titles, I doubt we'll be *that* bothered about the lack of an English / Scouse spine.

It is rather sad to see the finishing line in the horizon for both these players though. It always surprises me when I hear Gerrards age because I still think of him in the 24'ish bracket. Poo.

I don't see any of the English reserves making it unfortunately.

Guthrie will be sold, the signing of Skrtel has ended Hobbs chances of making it, Hammill has struggled for Southampton, Spearing is a great little player, but so tiny, Darby is very average, Putterill has struggled big time for the reserves.....

The only one that has done really well is Anderson, but that was in League One. It'd be nice if the hype turns out to be justified, but if you had to put money on it, the odds are in favour of him not making the step up (the number of times required).

I agree. He doesnt seem to have any soft tissue injuries *inserthugeantimockersmilie* these days. He is an amazing athlete actually.
Nah. He won't win the Prem. You can quote me on that. - Sarb24

Carra has a couple of years left in him at least, even if it is as a reserve a la Hyypia. Obviously replacing Stevie would cost a lot, but I have high hopes for Lucas, he just needs to bulk up a bit and get the pace of the league. Hopefully a few young local lads can step up in the future, you never know.

With the new formation in place not so much.

we have a formation now that will allow to continue to grow and develop as the possitions are easily filled.

442 is a hard system to play now due to style of player you need like in central midfield you need that gerrard style of player.

Gerrard possition now allows for much wider scope we could by some like diego or someone of his ilk and we still have torres be succesful.

I would be much more worried about lossing Masch or Torres.

Because both players provide such fantastic quality in both departments and they would be harder to replace.

But this is what the youth system we are creating is for, Dalle Valle sounds to be a fantastic youngster at a very young age he plays in gerrards role as does atsric aderiajivic (sp) so the quality seems to be their wether they will be as good as gerrard i dont know but i certainly think they will be of an ilk that will win us title and play great football.

I think we may revert to 4-3-3 a lot next season if Rafa gets who he wants. Allows Stevie to play in a deeper role and make his runs. Not much difference to how we are playing ATM.

Sure, there are a few that have a chance but not many are scouse. I don't think Darby or Spearing will be good enough. I think Hammill and maybe Putterill are in with a shout of becoming decent squad players.

Definitely one to spice up our midfield
