Not tripled so much was it, I thought Houllier bid 7 and they bid 12 or something, but yes, what a miss. Mind you, would his creativity have been encouraged or discouraged by Rafa? Would he be the player that he is now?Originally posted by Johnny View PostWe once bid for him you know.Manure tripled our bid and signed him.Moores,Ehhhh????

I think all this Rafa blunts creativity talk is unfounded. He played with Aimar, Vicente et al who were all creative and attacking, we have had Garcia and Torres who feels that Benitez has improved him massively. It is fair to say that tactically he is naturally a conservative build it up from a solid base type manager but I really don't think there are any attacking players who he has turned into automaton hacks as a lot of people seem to imply.Originally posted by FatTony View PostNot tripled so much was it, I thought Houllier bid 7 and they bid 12 or something, but yes, what a miss. I think of all the players in the PL (outside our squad) Ronaldo and Rooney are the two who Rafa would work best with. Both are selfless runners who are flexible in the position they play and are willing to defend when they have to along with all their attacking talents."The man who never alters his opinion is like standing water, and breeds reptiles of the mind."

I feel we're very close. Very very close.
I think we may even be a little closer than that.
I'm playing all the right notes. Not necessarily in the right order. I'll give you that, sunshine.

Marky's positives 2007-2008 season:
- The form of new boy Fernando Torres, he's blew my socks off from day one. At Villa Park on opening day he didn't score but i knew we had something special on our hands even then. He's been absolutely brilliant for us, a real hero already. Take a bow son, take a bow.
- Ryan Babel, sometimes frustrating but he's pacy, strong, direct and exciting. I like him alot.
- Martin Strtel - tight *******, pacy and comfy on the ball. Don't **** with him.
Marky's negatives 2007-2008
- Defending set pieces and defending in general, wtf has happened to us in this department??? We was rock solid before, sort it out.
- Gerrard's inability to infleuce and inpsire his team against the top 4 sides. Not good enough son, earn your wages, i want to see more from you against the Mancs etc next season. SORT IT OUT.
- Off the field ****e - i'll say no more on that.Last edited by Marky; 10-05-08, 12:11 AM."Let me say for the record, I am not a gangster and never have been. Im not the thief who grabs your purse. The Gerrard bit I don't agree with. I agree he is less influential in those games, but I think it has more to do with superior defending and tactics of the top sides compared to the rest. Their aim is to limit the influence of Gerrard, which they seem to do pretty well. I think Gerrard either needs to find some way to break those shackles, or the players around him need to step up their influence on the game.Originally posted by Marky View PostNo.

Ps do you agree with my views?
People level the same complaint against Ronaldo without seeming to acknowledge the tactics of the opposition.
The rest I agree with, although you do sound a little too much like Andy Gray

I we'd held on to our leads this season we would have 12 extra points and be top of the table.Originally posted by Ben Tover View PostIf we had beaten Utd twice, we would be top of the table
