If that fact is correct then that is amazing! I recall some games where we played really well and once we got the lead we just bottled it big time and let the opposition get back into the game and ended up with a draw! That happened mid season, and I am hoping that we learned enough for it not to happen again. We were unable to kill off a lot of games and paid the price for it. Do that and we will be up there!!
"That's how I found myself on the Kop that day I had my blue-and-white scarf safely tucked away inside my coat as I listened to Liverpool songs and swayed with the masses.

Then City scored and I screeched and this big bloke, a Liverpool supporter, made towards me and I thought he was going to throttle me. But he just pulled my scarf from under my coat so it lay on the outside, and said: "You should always be proud of your colours, lad."

I think Gerrard either needs to find some way to break those shackles, or the players around him need to step up their influence on the game.

People level the same complaint against Ronaldo without seeming to acknowledge the tactics of the opposition.

The rest I agree with, although you do sound a little too much like Andy Gray
Very good point. It would be great if Gerrard could overcome this but when against the best managers and teams it is so much harder. The Ronaldo comparison is very valid.
Nah. He won't win the Prem. You can quote me on that. - Sarb24

This season was frustrating as hell...two months of **** form in the fall, after the 6-0 win over Derby until the 8-0 over Besiktas, and another two months of **** form starting with Wigan at home until we battered Inter in the Champions' League. That's the difference between us and United/Chelsea...you don't see them going through prolonged dry spells in the league. And it happens every ****ing season. The really frustrating thing about it is that, despite our initial run of horrible form, we were in the thick of the title race in mid-December, and who knows what would have happened had we gotten better results at home against the likes of Birmingham and Wigan (sides we should beat handily at home), Villa (typical frustrating draw dominated by us), and Chelsea (Rob ****ing styles...). Add to that the fiasco that Gillet/Hicks have become, especially with Hicks' refusal to sell despite not having the financial resources to fund the stadium or give Rafa the necessary finances for the transfers we need to reach the next level. If Hicks had ****ed off this season, we'd be in a much stronger position going into the summer, with the ownership issue sorted.

That being said, we definitely made progress this season. United, in my opinion, were a stronger side this season than last, but we finished 11 points back this term, compared to 21 a season ago. Only 4 losses in the league, compared to 10 last year. I also feel that Rafa did an excellent job in the transfer market, bringing in the likes of Babel, Lucas, Skrtel and (of course) Torres when, taking into account what we recouped from player sales, we didn't spend much more than in previous seasons.

And Torres' performance this season...I think everything that can be said about him already has.

Unfortunately, though, we've got a lot of work to do for next season, and my lack of confidence in Hicks' competence as an owner, and Avram Grant as a manager, have me feeling that United winning number 18 next year is all but inevitable.
