I remember reading an interview when Houllier started playing him at centre back and it was saying how we got a steal at 500k and how the Mancs paid 30m for Ferdinand who was having a tough time.

Then it all started going wrong for Djimi. Still one more Champions league medal than Ferdinand though
Oh the man is a midfield maestro

Diouf, was absolutely sensational in the World Cup tournament for Senegal, African player of the year etc, thought he was going to be dynamite, instead he was more vegemite.

John Barnes. Injury robbed him of his best years.

Was gonna mention Morientes, aye. Jari is a good call too.

Also, Babbel deserves a mention. Absolutely immense until his freakish disease. Could've been as good a signing as Sami & Didi had he stayed well.
              3rd place. Worst champions ever.

Spose Paddy Berger might get a mention too.

Aye, but his time with us was interupted & curtailed by injury tho. Could've been much more.

Christian Ziege. I thought he was going to be the business.

So true ...and Gary Neville wouldn't have half as many England caps as he does

Jamie Redknapp, did well for us but injuries robbed him of so much of his career

Got to agree with Rob Jones. Was awesome, cut short by the injury though. Never really replaced him since to be honest
