Nigel Clough, I had high hopes as he was brilliant for Forrest, bar the 2 goals against the Scum he did very little for us

Heggem, Diouf and Rob Jones were the names that came to my mind, though Djimi is a good shout. Barnes and Beardsley don't belong anywhere near this category, though.
I'm playing all the right notes. Not necessarily in the right order. I'll give you that, sunshine.

that was a name that leapt to my mind

twice the player david beckham was just not so lucky with injuries nor the players he played with.

along with rob jones - was TEN times the player gary neville is. similar factors apply

but for me,robby fowler is the biggest "if only" in the history of lfc. he only achieved a fraction of what he might have - and while he was unlucky with injuries, most of that was down to himself. To many lfc fans, hes a legend. to me hes a case of what might have been. i think fowler will be a very very miserable man if he lives to be an old multimillionaire. he had more talent than any player in the last 20 years yet less talented but better applied people tucked away all the medals.

For me Kewell and Collymore, at least Stan gave me some brilliant memories. We got our money back on him n all. But Kewell takes the biscuit for me, I really thought he was gonna fill the boots of Kenny, Barnes, Mobly etc and all he gave us was 6 months I kept on saying he would come back from injury and show his worth. I guess he did in the end

Diao was a bit of a disappointment "new paddy Veira". Not to forget good old ZZ himself Bruno. I was dead excited after watching him fly into Lazio in pre-season.

I thought about Fowler too, but decided not to go with it because individual performance wise he was class and the guy is rightly a legend, It was probably the quality of his team mates that let him down as he carried us for so long had he come along at a different time he'd have had the medal collection he deserved.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

two midfielders come to mind... I remember thinking that Paul Stewart was just what we needed - a quality goal scoring midfielder. Then there was Paul Ince - thought he was a great signing but what a disappointment. A few others to think about..

              Phil Babb
              Mad Erik
              Sinama-Pongolle and Le Tallec
              Milan Baros

Harry is the big one for me. Can't remember being as excited by a signing like that since the days of Aldridge , Beardsley and Barnes in a short period of time (what would the equivalent of those three be this year?)

I feel sorry for him on a professional level. Rafa obviously rates him - if he had been here for the 5 previous years who knows...

Anelka was another of whom I had high expectations and also Ronnie Rosenthal after his first 10 or so games for us.

Agree about the premature sale of Aldo - couldn't fathom it at the time and still can't.

Finally what about Mark Gonzalez - Rafa built him up and I thought he'd take the EPL by storm - he didn't!
I beg to dream and differ from the hollow lies!!

(Get Hicks, Gillett & Parry out NOW!)

Good shout, remember everyone being pretty excited about him.

Also Dean Saunders and to an extent Mark Wright.
I'd wanted Jason McAteer to sign for ages before he did but he never really did it imo.

Also agree with Nigel Clough who was suggested earlier. I remember seeing "Nigel Clough (Liverpool)" in an England squad on Teletext just after he signed and rubbing my hands with glee. False dawn.

Kewell has to be in there, such a bargain price, he would of been well worth it if he hadnt of been plagued by injury!

Markus Babbel - A fine right back and had a great season in 2001, but to then see him in a wheelchair like that was truly shocking.
