    This 6 + 5 UEFA ruling

What are the chances of this going through?

I'm sure I read somewhere that a decision is going to made at the end of this month.

Will this delay possible transfer activity even though the window doesn't open until after the decision is made?

Obviously this won't affect us trying to get a deal sorted for Barry or any other English players that Rafa may want to sign asap.

Apologies for the questions, but I've taken **** all interest in this previously.

Big article about it in the Guardian today.

Can't see this rule going through. It'd contravene so many employment laws it's not funny.

I was thinking that this surely cant be enforced immediately even if it does go through

      I think 5 + 6 would be better than 6 + 5

I am quite sure the EU recently said that such a ruling would be against the free movement of the labour, and would be illegal. So they would stop it if necessary...

They also commented that the only way to allow such a rule within a closed space like football is if all clubs agree on it (which I very much doubt)

Not a chance in hell of this coming to fruition under EU legislation

            Sepp Blatter is quite Confident:-

“Contrary to what may have been said, the ‘6+5′ rule does not contravene the European Labour Law on the freedom of movement. Clubs will still be free to take on as many foreign players as they want.

“When a match kicks off however, they will have to have six players on the pitch who are eligible for the national team of the country in question. Furthermore, the ‘6+5′ rule supports another European Law, namely regarding having the broadest and fairest possible competition and restricting the concentration of finances and economic monopolies.”

Rafa has also said he has to wait and see what comes of the FIFA meeting on this at the end of May before moving on transfers.

I think the end of May could become quite exciting for LFC fans, a resolve in the ownership of clubs, and sudden moves on the transfer market made.

I'm sure he will have drawn up differint lists depending on such outcomes.

                Optimist

...and I'm sure come August we have still not concluded our transfer dealings, and are still dreaming of being owned by the arabs

Wouldnt it be typical for such a rule to come in just at a time when we might finally become wealthy enough to compete for the top foreign players

That's the key point, as far as i can see. Like Blatters says, clubs are free to buy who they want, and therefore EU law is not being contravened. However, when it comes to the starting 11, 6 must be from England. Nothing wrong with that, and i think this law will go through no problem...which means getting top english players in, like Barry, now, before prices skyrocket, is crucial.

If this type of ruling was passed we would ave to be very clever indeed in the transfer market, and look for some English bargains.
For me three names would stand out, being Barry, Bridge, and yes --- Owen....and we may even have to hang on and keep Carson.

If such a ruling was passed and declared legal, I would assume that UEFA would need to give some kind of advance warning of a year or two.
There are very few top teams who currently have 6 constantly selected players of the nationality from where the team originates.

Arsenal (& Wenger) would be ****ed.

6 in the starting 11, so does that mean after 5 minutes of play you can replace 4-5 of them with foreigners who happen to be sitting on the bench?
"I watched the Champions League quarter-finals and the way they crushed Arsenal. Only the greatest and the best can play such a match.

If this comes through before this transfer window closes I can quite quickly see another bossman style trial coming up. Either from a club or individual, proberly the later...

If a team wants to waste their 3 subs in the first 5 minutes, then i guess that is entirely up to the manager.

4-5?? Are they changing the maximum number of subs allowed to be made then?
