wish i had your depth of thought, my scenarios some what different where by i hope it all kicks off and both teams get banned for ten years, how surreal is that,thats my way of dealing with it.

Lol, strangely I was saying something similiar the other day to a guy at work.

They asked who I wanted to win, and I said no-one. All I was able to make myself hope for is for both teams to get banned and the final to be replayed between us and Barca. Or even to give it straight to Barca. Anything expect either of those 2 winning it. ANYTHING. Lol.

i caught a few minutes of the Champions League Weekly programme on sky sports over the weekend, and they said that Chelsea were consistantly the best team in the champions league over the past 4 seasons. I thought that was a load of balls personally!! Anybody care to disprove that?

In '06 when we went out the first knockout round they did too.

Both times we made the final we knocked them out in the semi.

Only time they got further is this season when we still made the semi but unfortunately lost out to 'em.

So it's basically 1 win, 2 finals and 3 semi's v 3 semi's and 1 final, with the winner yet to be decided (still counting the semi when a final is made, it still get's played).

Let's say we score as follows just to put it in terms of numbers (arbitrary scale pulled out of my arse, but I think fairly represents, if anything the win / final should get even more bonus points):
Win = 4 points
Final = 3 points
Semi = 2 points
We have:
Us = 16 points
Them = 13 points (assuming best case for them and they win tomorrow)

Even if they win we still have 1 more final than them in the last 4 years. We're more consistent without a doubt.

So I think this proves the pundit is full of **** as always.

This is also reflected by constant declarations of the kind that undervalue the CL to the point where many take our strength in the competition for granted. I don't think any of us could have even dreamed of getting to a CL final at all while Houllier was in charge, and I'm sure alot of Arsenal fans are extremely frustrated by their inability to win a European Cup.

I think that alot of fans see progression the CL as a "given" these days, and that is (whilst folly!) a reflection of how good we have become in the competition over the last 4 or so years.

Lol, if you look at his post history over the past couple of days, most of his posts have been pretty mundane, so i'm guessing someone has deleted a load of the more argumentative ones. Well, it's either that or someone has a grudge against the lad.

Now, back on topic, I think that our good showings in the CL mean that, as opposed to previously, i'm actually quite gutted that we only made it to the semi's this year.

Look, not only did I post a public explanation of DJS's banning, we've also let that thread go in chat and explained it in more detail. I think that's just about adequate don't you? We had enough threads ruined while the guy was here.

Its not something I'm pleased about us having done, or take lightly in the slightest, but frankly its been coming for a long time, we decided to stop waiting for an excuse and make a decision in what we believe is the wider interest of the site. Which is, really, our perogative.

Now, enough already, its no longer amusing. Next thread I'm going to get tetchy.
