3 defeats in 9 matches and 15 points wasted

I hope RAFA has learned from this. We seem to hibernate around Christmas time and don't wake up until it's too late!

    08 Dec 07 Reading 3 - 1 Liverpool (3 points wasted)
    16 Dec 07 Liverpool 0 - 1 Man United (2 points wasted)
    22 Dec 07 Liverpool 4 - 1 Portsmouth
    26 Dec 07 Derby County 1 - 2 Liverpool
    30 Dec 07 Manchester City 0 - 0 Liverpool (2 points wasted)
    02 Jan 08 Liverpool 1 - 1 Wigan Athletic (2 points wasted)
    12 Jan 08 Middlesbrough 1 - 1 Liverpool (2 points wasted)
    21 Jan 08 Liverpool 2 - 2 Aston Villa (2 points wasted)
    30 Jan 08 West Ham United 1 - 0 Liverpool (2 points wasted)
    TOTAL WASTED: 15 POINTS

It seems a mid winter break is the answer what do you think?

I really thought Rafa would get sacked after that West Ham game.

    Thank god he didn't

I think the Reading game killed our momentum. In a way we were unlucky to have the United game next in the league but we need to get better at facing them mentally. The poor choice of tactics at Reading IMO was one of the lowest points of the season.

I really think a big part of the problem was that we relied to much on Torres and Gerrard to get goals - the Christmas period is draining for all players and teams but more so for those expected to carry a team. I think the purchase of another attacking threat and a better use of set pieces would mean that the Christmas period would be less of a slog and we would do better as a consequence.

Surely it is either 1 or 3 points wasted though depending on how you look at it?

So that should be 1 point wasted then surely? Keep up kid.

I was at both matches and chose to be conservative regarding the points based on the merits of the game, Carra cost us a point in injury time and with better finishing we could have had all 3.

As for the manure game, we were all over them and should have equalised late on and salvaged a point out of the game (therefore lost 2 points as we never looked winning it). They had one half chance which they scored from and one clear cut chance which Rooney wasted.

Odd, but I don't feel patronised.

Ok, but I still don't get it. 1 point dropped in each game I agree with. The West Ham game was very annoying with Carra's kung foo

Somewhere between 12 and 15 points were wasted. We were only 11 behind manure at the death and could and should have been smarter. Anyway we look good for next year with some decent signings and offloading of dead (expensive) wood.

What expensive dead wood should we get rid off? Cant think of any player over 10 mill I would like to part with in the team.

Yes, that was a very low moment in the season. I really felt it might happen, and it would have been a huge step backwards if it had.
I'm playing all the right notes. Not necessarily in the right order. I'll give you that, sunshine.
