The Case for Rafa - In relation to cheap transfers etc ...

Just to clarify some things, such as the fact we're targeting cheaper players compared to the Chelsea's and Manure's of this world.

The Degen signing for me proves to be a masterstroke. He's a proven international, and he played in a good league (Germany) and is a regular for both his club and his national team. Compare this to what Chelsea are paying for someone like Bosingwa, who while he may be good, we've got Degen for nothing ... and dare I say, he's probably in the same category as Bosingwa. Same age, proven international etc ...

And Rafa's track record for signing 'unknown' players and building a proper team around is second to none. It shouldn't have been a doubt into people's mind really. We have a manager who won't throw cash around just for fun (aka Wenger) and who has strong principles about the game, ethically and footballistically. We should be very grateful for that.

As for the Riera's, Dossena's of this world, just give them a chance FFS. They're not widely known players but that's not to say they're not on a par with other more well known ones.

You just have to look at the list of players Rafa wanted to sign who have became world class players as well. He does get it wrong but how many players has he lost money on.

No doubt you're going to get slated by DJS for bumming Rafa again Fredo, but yes I agree. There's not much else Rafa can do really while he has limited funds. He could be a good signing though.

I would bet DJS will not post a negative thing on here for a good bit.

            Has he been banned again?

While I think that there is some value in your argument I think before we claim any signing to be a masterstroke we have to see them play for us for a decent period of time. The key to a good signing is not what their reputation is but what they do for the team. Even with those criteria I think you can be led astray in the short term - when Kuyt came there was much acclaim and he was thought of as a great signing, over a longer time period I think even his most staunch advocates would probably rate him more as a decent signing.

For me a free right back is probably the right option given our finances and I doubt we could get one with a better record. However as things stand he still has to prove himself better than Arbeloa and Finnan.

Yes. There is info on why here. It would be appreciated if any discussion of disciplinary actions were conducted either by PM with a mod or probably more appropriately in the feedback forum.

                  Well said.

Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

He is argumentative but a lot of the stuff he comes out with makes a lot of sense. I didn't realised he'd been banned again, espeically for life.

I guess it's just his way of putting his point across at the end of the day.

You are getting a bit ahead of yourself fella. He has yet to play for us so to say that Rafa has strung a piece of masterstroke is way, way over the top.

Rafa's transfer record is near impecible. In fact, discounting Wenger who seems to get a free reign to finish wherever he likes and buy whoever he likes, i think Rafa has the best transfer record in England, if not the world.

He's a bit of a pratt but banning him for life is taking the piss if you ask me. He's extremely negative but but I respect him for holding his own and I also respect his views.

I hope this site doesn't turn into kraptalk whereby peeps get banned life right & centre for silly things.

jesus. the djs thing has been done to death over the last few days. im no authority in here but i suggest if you have any queries about why then as suggested you should use the pm function or the news and feedback and not using threads in the lfc section. mike and paul have explained some of their reasons for banning him and i think people should just accept the decision that has been made.
