Kuyt was very vocal when he signed about wanting the #7 shirt, as thats the shirt he wore at Feyenord. If i was a betting man i'd say he'll be wearing it next season.

If the player is scared of the no.7 challenge then he isn't good enough for us.

ffs its the quality of the player, not the number he wears.

if them numbers are so sacrid and put so much pressure on the players wearing them why not retire the numbers....

and if iam honest, what aload of crap, these players ask to wear these numbers and they get paid to play footie no matter what the number is.

Beardo definitely wore 7, he was well worthy of the shirt

I can’t help thinking this a bit of Rafa physcology sending a message to the board. We can’t afford a number 7 of the quality Keegan and Dalglish offered in the past so let’s just dump the number and keep it in reserve until we can.

cr@p. man united don't seem to have an issue with their current 7. its basically all about the player who takes on the shirt.

Numbers no longer have the relevence they once did. They no longer denote anything (ie Baros 5) By the way who wore No 1 for Argentina in the 1978 world cup?

Actually I had no idea about this one - no idea at all. I Wiki'd it.

                              Says it was Norberto Alonso.

Mind games by Rafa if you ask me. He tried to dissuade Torres from taking #9.
