Yep - good move. We struggled a bit last season with new signings not getting the zonal system. Skrtel was the most alarming, as he was brilliant on the whole but we conceded a few goals where he never even got off the ground to challenge for a header.

      Welcome back Pelle!

Wasnt he offered the reserve team coach job before it was offered to Ablett? I thought he turned it doen as he wanted to continue playing for a bit?

Think he'll be a great addition to the staff...

Mauricio Pellegrino is set to return to the club as first-team coach, Rafa Benitez today confirmed.
The Argentine defender, who played 12 games for the Reds under Benitez in 2005, will become the second high-profile addition to the backroom team following the arrival of Sammy Lee earlier in the summer.

Benitez told Liverpoolfc.tv the 36-year-old had much to offer.

"His role will be first-team coach, and he'll also carry out specialist training sessions," said the boss.

"He can also work specifically with the defence, and also the reserves.

"Pellegrino has a winning mentality. He won the Intercontinental Cup before going to Spain with Barcelona and Valencia.

"He has a lot of passion. When I asked him to come he was very pleased, but first he wanted to find out if there was a school where his three children could play good football. He is a football man."

Pellegrino had been coaching Valencia's youth team.

            Class act.

Good to have him aboard, he does sound like a good bloke, remember the story of him going and getting some of the squad members Champions League medals from the losing Milan team who had discarded theirs.
              We come not to play.

if he is first team coach what will sammys job be ??
"Sky and Setanta have the right to choose their games and it will be the same for everyone. So Mr Ferguson will not be complaining about fixtures and a campaign against United.

"Or there is another option. That Mr Ferguson organises the fixtures in his office and sends it to us and everyone will know and cannot complain. That is simple."

One will take Alex Millers role, the other Pako Ayestaran's.

I haven't seen that story. Why did Milan discard theirs? Where did they put them?
Is there an article anywhere, mate?

There's a line in the article which no one seems to have picked up on yet:

Pellegrino had been coaching Valencia's youth team.
So Rafa is doing business with Valencia after all.

                              IT'S SILVA AND VILLA!!!

Good move by Rafa bringing him back. We conceded a lot of goals from set pieces last season, hopefully Pellegrino can sort this out.
With the addition of Sammy as well this summer, Rafa now has a good level of staff to work with. I'm sure the players will also benefit from this.
