We are actualy taking a stand in the transfer market and not being held to randsome by clubs like Aston Villa.
I've already made my views clear in my thread 'The Keep Xabi Alonso Thread' and I'm so pleased that we aren't going to pay a ridiculous price for a player who won't add much to our team.
The only way this transfer will happen is if we sell Alonso and if it does happen without selling Alonso then we are absolute mugs as we need to speand the money on other positions.
I think we are in the driving seat with this transfer now Barry has stated his intentions, it means they take our offer or lose millions by being over stubborn and over-valuing the player.

Agreed. I'd also add that this takin a stand issue is only a result of us not selling Alonso as yet. If that deal would of been struck by now, negotiations over Barry would have been concluded by now, IMO.
