Thanjk you.

I was thinking that but it's far more amusing and fruitful than wasting time on transfer speculation and assessing players on the basis of 45 minutes of non-competitive football.
. Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.
You're making far too much of this IMO. Arsenal always do well in pre-season but they usually don't win the League. What counts is where you finish, not where you are before you've started.
Having said that, COME ON YOU AARDVARKS!!!!!!
I agree, it is where you finish, but surely starting ahead would give us a clear psycological advantage?
Rather than having to fight our way up from mid table we could lead from the front. The onus is then on others to overtake us.
In football, particularly the modern era, these small details are vital. I'm surprised that a man of Rafa's stature hasn't dealt with this whole Aardvarks FC thing yet. It is an opportunity and if we don't do it others will.
I wouldn't mind betting that Scolari pulls something similar as he takes over at Chelsea.

I take your point about the psychology of it but I think we're nicely placed in the chasing pack without having the media scrutiny that comes with being top. Anyway at this stage of the pre-season the table is so tight that just a draw would take us top.

Has anyone else noticed that AFC Liverpool would be top?
Sack Parry (R) and replace him with Parry (A)!

Except, of course, if the team we drew against had a name which started with any letter between A and K. They would go highter on the Alphabetical rule.
And on the opening weekend, if everyone in the league drew we would still be 9th.
And if everyone finished the season on the same points, GD, Goals scored etc would the league not be decided on alphabetical supremacy?
This is why we need to make that change now.
And if Rafa decides that LFC should change its name to that of a medium-sized, burrowing, nocturnal mammal native to Africa, if only to gain a hypothetical advantage, who are we to argue?
To keep the name scouse how about just AAAAAAAAAA FC?
Sorry
a a a a a a calm down, calm down
"Sky and Setanta have the right to choose their games and it will be the same for everyone. So Mr Ferguson will not be complaining about fixtures and a campaign against United.
"Or there is another option. That Mr Ferguson organises the fixtures in his office and sends it to us and everyone will know and cannot complain. That is simple."

I could not dig, I dared not rob:
Therefore I lied to please the mob.
Now all my lies are proved untrue
And I must face the men I slew.
What tale shall serve me here among
Mine angry and defrauded young?
