It seems to me that since interest in Xabi waned. Rafa had a choice to make. Barry or Keane. He chose Keane.

Yeah, I can see the sense in that. Regardless of how much I hate the scumbag yankee ****wit owners id have to say that over the past 3-4 months they have been far better as they have shut the **** up and been more typical LFC owners. And they have got this right too. Barry would be a good addition to our squad but not at that price. Or close to it. So, credit where credit is due. I actually think the price for Barry is a fair one for any club but not for us in our situation.

If we'd sold Xabi we'd have a space for him and it would be worth paying the asking price, but as we've not sold Xabi we don't have a position for Barry and therefore £18M is just too much to spunk on strengthing an already solid midfield.

I like the statement parry has put out.I agree with barnes10,the fee for Barry is unrealistic.If the player came out and said"I don't mind if i stay at the club i love or if the club get a huge offer they can't refuse then i will consider leaving" that would be different and the club can really put any price they want to keep the player.

But thats not the case.Villa are trying to be greedy and they may get there fingers burnt with this.Barry's not totally blameless in all of this either.He could of put in a transfer request.Why hasn't he done that?

Well he was apparently one of our main targets this summer. Maybe the owners think he would be a more astute purchase than Barry, so they are backing a bid for him rather than Barry....£18m is a joke for him.

Id be happy with either. They will both add alot to the team in different ways.
