madrid are linked with about 10 players a day. there's no way we would have quoted a price of 25m euros for xabi imo. we'd want the kind of money we were looking for for gerrard last season when he was looking to move to chelsea.

i wouldn't be that surprised to see madrid only sign perhaps a striker and a left back now before the season. they have quite a good squad now except for those 2 positions.

i'm not saying i want to lose him. and i agree we should be looking to build the team, not destroy it. it's just if we were going to sell, i think we'd be looking for closer to 30m quid than 17m or whatever 25m euros works out to.

No chance mate no way will he leave it's all bollocks. Real Madrid over the past couple of months have been linked with a 100 players in Marca. They may well want Xabi but I very very very much doubt he's for sale. For one he's Basque and 2 why would anyone want to leave Liverpool now.

I don't know how close he was to signing for them be honest but I can't see Rafa selling him full stop. He's a clone of Rafa, he's what Rafa looks for in a footballer, He's worth
