Sell him and buy Barton & Pennant with the money. That duo with Bells should give us a fair number headlines in the future and there is no such a thing as bad publicity

In a real world I doubt that Real will splash their cash on Alonso having just signed Emerson. And I also doubt that Rafa will cash in his last summers primary target. Xabi won't leave

But what makes you so sure that even a top-class manager like Capello will be staying there for more than a season or two? The way football is at the moment with all the money, once a team becomes plastic it STAYS plastic. Real Madrid is in the hands of money-mad politicizing buffoons, I don't see a man of Capello's quality staying for long.

I think it depends how much influence he is allowed. If he can create a stable and successful squad which will genuinely benefit from igning one big name each year then he will be fine.

I think it is surprising that noone has seen that Capello is clearly going to want to overhall the Real squad meaning that there must be at least a few quality players who should be available. I would have thought it would have been worth us enquiring about Juan Fran (I hope that is his name) the young right winger we were after the other summer.

Look at who Real Madrid have signed? If that wasn't Capello saying who to sign, then I'm a flying Dutch Man.

Capello might well only stay there for 2 seasons, but he's old enough and experienced enough to get the best out a decent squad.

They were a circus when Perez was leading the club, I don't think we'll be run like a circus for a while now. For one, there is too much pressure on toppling Barca for that.

Yeah - I posted the above before learning about Thuram and Zambrotta. But I do hope the circus goes on above him and causes him to leave as I would like to see Real Madrid fall to pieces.

The only way rafa would sell xabi would be if real paid more than rafa thinks xabi is worth and in my opinion real dont have that kind of money! Stop fretting cos this is one bit of paper talk that you realy should be laughing at instead of crying at! In my opinion rafa bases his team around xabi not gerro! you never see xabi playing out of position! theres no way rafa will sell him!

[QUOTE=ShaggyAlonso]It is mate but I just think Xabi is so important to us - so important. It sounds daft but I don't think he's any less vital to us than Stevie is. He's that good, and when you consider how young he is and how many years service we could get out of him, then I think he's priceless to us and I wouldn't sell him under any circumstances.

Who on earth would we replace him with? In theory, we could replace him with two

If xabi was to leave the only player that comes to mind that could replace him would be pirlo! very similar style of play, the both seem to have more time on the ball than others and have incrredible vision! but given the choice xabi any day! how old is pirlo?

Did anyone see Rafa's interview on Sky a couple of mins ago?

He said Real have not been in contact and that Xabi is not for sale.

When asked about anymore signings he said "I hope so" with a cheeky grin but wouldn't give any names.

Not gonna happen. The journo missed the part where Rafa said that Xabi is not for sale.

I don't think that this transfer will happen, but the offer could cause big problems for the club. Assuming that Rafa sees Xabi as an intergral part of his squad to challenge for the Premiership then he will definitely want to keep him as he would be difficult/impossible to replace - then the big offer,
