Kuyt: Oranje Are Wrong To Bench Me
Liverpool attacker Dirk Kuyt has developed into a first team regular at Anfield, but is still not much more than a benchwarmer for the national side, a situation which is starting to bother the forward...
Dirk Kuyt feels that he's undervalued by the Netherlands' national set-up.
“It’s always the same story when it comes to Oranje,” said Kuyt to Sportweek. “I have to convince people each time I play. I can handle it, but it’s a shame that I have to invest in it over and over again.
“I’m in a position now where I’m almost playing every match at Liverpool. It’s hard to accept that I’m a benchwarmer at national level, while I’m one of the more important players at my club.
“I’ve also noticed that he level at Liverpool is higher than the level at Oranje. We played fantastic at Euro 08 against Italy and France, but those were exceptions. A lot of club teams are better than Holland.”
The perturbed star asserted: “I want to be a regular in the starting XI with Oranje and I think I deserve it. I can’t accept being a benchwarmer any longer and I will prove my worth to the team. It’s probably going to be my last [World Cup] and I don’t want to miss it.”
However, the Liverpudlian-by-proxy is facing stiff competition for a starting berth at Oranje and it looks like manager Bert Van Marwijk prefers the likes of Klaas Jan Huntelaar and Robin van Persie at the moment.

Sounds plausible, I just can't see Dirk saying some of those things in the way the article portrays them, and it's a **** site and it's translated.
