He actually addresses that viewpoint in the book, and explains why... go read it. Well worth it

Nothing wrong with what he has said. He's spoken the truth in his book.

The guy is a legend for me. Awesome player and a great servant to the club. Remember towards the end of last season apparently turned upto one of the SOS meetings and talked about how the Yanks need to be out

I wonder would you be saying this if he hadn't just undermined his boss who you just happen to detest?

Carra's gone way down in my estimation after this. As recently as last week I was defending him to a scum supporting make of mine who's always said that if he played for Boro, Carra would never get as much good press. If ou ask me I'd be dropping him anyway as he's not as good as either MS or DA.

He also seems to forget that before rafa came to the club Carra was considered to be a complete plodder. The most capped U21 player ever who just happened to not make it at the senior team. The useless feck who couldn't find a teamate with a pass for love nor money. Now he's a hero on the Kop with a European Cup medal in his arse pocket. Ungrateful.

The more I write this the more angry I get. I'll wait for the whole book to come out but if it's as bad as it looks I'd sell him in the transfer window.

BTW..He always seems to bang on about how great Houllier was. Off topic but equally as annoying.

            Ungrateful? What a ridiculous post

If it wasn't for him you wouldn't even be celebrating number 5 mate. Playing on when he had bad cramp and making last ditch clearances.

Carra is the best out and out defender we have at the club period. You don't know what you're on about. Go and have a chat with your scum mate

Carra is a true Liverpool legend. I just wish he had not followed the current trend of footballers releasing autobiographies while they are still playing. I really had hopes that he would wait till the end of his career. Am a bit dissapointed that he could not wait.
              Dare we believe

I think you've answered your own question there. If autobiographies are not self-promotion, then I don't know what is.
                  Oh I don't know.

it really is beyond me, why carra thought releasing his book while he's still playing was a good idea??

id say that for any current player bringing out a book while playing let alone one of carra's nature where he's totally honest.

as for what it will do for his relationship with rafa, this will hardly look good and rafa is a stubborn man.

Players sign these contracts with publishers years in advance. They are allocated a ghost writer (usually a famous football journo), and they have regular meetings to document their life as it was, and as it's unfolding.

It is in the publisher's interest to publish the books when the player is at the peak of his game (and fame) in order to maximise sales.

For example, if Ray Houghton released a book now, who would be interested in buying it? Not many people. If he released one straight after the 1990 World Cup, it would have been quite popular.
                          Oh I don't know.

very good point mate, didn't look at it from that angle.

                              Still not a wise move.

I'm sure Carra had some say on release dates etc and lets face it he is at the tail end of his career and so could have waited until his playing career with Liverpool was over.

Also, he's a big enough name and character in the game to ensure sales even 1 or 2 years after he's finished playing, using Ray Houghton as an example doesn't exactly work for me.

I seem to remember Carra saying footballers shouldn't release books while they are still playing.
