    Help with Shirt Purchase

Looking at buying the home shirt for my son's 13th birthday. However cash is a little tight at the moment, and although the official shop has them at GBP40, they want to add 15 quid for postage to New Zealand. (At the same time, they don't appear to remove the VAT for an overseas sale.)

Last year there was a great thread about a store selling the shirt at a much reduced price with a discount code. Is there anyone offering any discounted prices in the UK at the moment.

There are a number of retailers at the moment offering the shirt at around £40 plus postage. If I were you, I would try the american eBay (www.ebay.com) not the uk ebay site. Some American retailers are more flexible on shipping. Also be careful as there are a number of counterfeit shirts on ebay. When buying always ask the seller to verify the serial number which is situated at the front where the adidas label is. A shirt with no serial number will be a copy. Good luck.

Why wouldn't the counterfeiters just print a serial number anyway? They could print the same number on every shirt and nobody would know any different.
          Oh I don't know.

Kitbag is always a decent retailer.

Also check to see if there is an LFC supporters club in NZ as they might have arranged to ship over a load of shirts for local fans.

If there's an adidas store anywhere near you they'll probably have the shirt too. Won't be anything in terms of discount but you'll at least avoid shipping costs.

If you want to buy a proper shirt locally (here is Aus, probably NZ as well) it costs $120 - 130 for just the shirt, no printing, numbers or names .....

We are getting seriously ripped off !

I noticed that when I was in Oz.

LFC shirts seemed to be 10 bucks more expensive than other teams.

You can tell a counterfeit shirt a mile off. The club crest is inferior as are the colours and the shape of the shield and the Liverbird. Also the serial number inside is unique as is the tag that it's printed on. The counterfeiters basically lack the integrity and attention to detail. I learned this the hard way. I collect Liverpool shirts and have dozens of them for every season since 1975. Always the serial number is missing, the materials are inferior and the crest is missing a million pixels. The fakes that are made in Thailand and Turkey are made in sweat shops and worth £5, they can't afford the transtatting equipment to make the serial number and label look authentic. That's why they use cheap synthetic materials for everything.

Fakes vary massively in terms of quality and detail. My Green 3rd shirt from Thailand is spot on in terms of materials. Badge is pretty tidy, not perfect, but you'd have to look pretty hard. It's an excellent copy and was 14 quid including postage.

Apparently in the US a size 38" and 40" chest is considered junior and a 44" is considered to be medium.

                      It beggars belief.
