I agree with this set-up. Maybe switch Kuyt and Gerrard, but with the ground they cover during a game they`ll end up switching places anyhow. If we really think about attacking I`d swap Kuyt with Babel.

In general I tend to think of the 3 behind one as fairly fluid and would be equally happy setting up either way and wouldn't see much difference in my head. I would probably see if there was a specific weakness in the opposition defense to decide.

If we take this team (which I agree with, the personel at least) for an example, it's doesn't look like we have improved the first team that much in the summer. The bench is getting better though:

I think the big thing is that we now have the potential in the squad to improve. Any of Babel, Keane or Dossena could kick on and improve the team. Players like Lucas can give us a change of focus and could also grow into the team. It is a really exciting prospect to have the squad we do now.

I think for the first time we can see the shape of a squad Rafa would really like to have. I don't think it is perfect but it is gelling into an impressive unit and it certainly hasn't reached it's peak potential.

funny how everyone is picking aurelio at left back. is that because we really rate him or that we don't rate dossena? personally i think aurelio is a really good footballer. and i'm really surprised that an italian defender like dossena hasn't had a totally comfortable start to his liverpool career particularly on the defensive side of things obviously.

Not really I like him a lot but he is much more of an attacking lb and I would have felt a lot more comfortable with him had we signed Barry
