Ball in the back of the net 4 times, Reina didn't have to make a save, still not 100% but looking good. Keeping pace with the Chavs and if we get a result against them we're in a great position! I know its early days, but I'm feeling really positive this season.

Beat the scum, beat the bitters, happy days so far

'tis a day to celebrate, with a bit of luck they'll get relegated, or at the least end up in a relegation dogfight. bring on psv

            Exactly.

For what its worth I thought that was one of the most one-sided derby games I can remember in a long time, even Mike Riley didn't manage to spoil it (despite trying really hard to in the second half). We were controlled, assured and dominated from first kick to the last.

Skrtel especially was a brute at the back

            They were utterly dreadful
I could not dig, I dared not rob:
Therefore I lied to please the mob.
Now all my lies are proved untrue
And I must face the men I slew.
What tale shall serve me here among
            Mine angry and defrauded young?

Would have thought this thread would have been longer.

Although it took us a while to actually get shots on target, we'd created loads of good situations only to fail with the final ball or shot. It was men against boys, and that is very ****ing pleasing.
Which is why I said it was far from convincing. We got the result, that's what matters.

People are saying the Pepe didn't have to make a save. That's not down to our brilliant defence though. They had chances, Cahill and Saha (to name 2) could have and should have done better. It could have been different if they had of taken either of those chances.

I'm not complaining just being realistic. I'm happy with the 3 points but still not getting too carried away.

Yeah, see for a derby game I thought it was pretty convincing. I remember our 29 game unbeaten run being ended by the bitters in '88, that was the best lfc team I've ever seen play and were streets ahead of Everton over the season, but in that game it didn't matter. And it rarely does, its always a blood and thunder game (ie they always just try to kick us), and its rarely pretty. but all in all I thought we made it look easy for long spells. Even with no Mascher we still controlled the pace of the game in midfield, always had good options wide (even if the final ball wasn't always fantastic) and totally took the sting out of everything they did. They had 2 half chance scrambles, we had the ball in the back of the net 4 times in 10 minutes, that'll do for me. And at the back I thought we were dominant in the air, and the full backs never let players get far round them - ie a very composed performance.

Don't get me wrong, I think there are still a few questions over the team this year, but in the two biggest games so far we've definitely stepped up to the plate and imposed our game plan on the opposition rather than the other way round, which is enormously encouraging imo.

I'll go along with. I was far from having a go at the team last night, just putting a bit of realism on the result. We beat a **** team and during the 1st half I thought we may not get away with the win. We wore them dowm and sanity prevailed.

I agree Michael in our two biggest games Rafa has come up trumps and in the 2nd half of both games after his half time team talk we have been superb. Good work Rafa.

Rafa has been coming on trumps year before as we've won trophies with him. We've always regarded each season as steady progression and nothing has changed. We've always been a very good team but for one reason didn't gain enough points consistently throughout a whole season, making us lose crucial ground.

If we can sustain this level of results, we'll be there.

For a variety of long-planned reasons I was with the kids at Legoland yesterday. During the afternoon some ******* that worked there told me the Bitters had won 4-0. Must have been a scummer. I was well happy when I got back to the car and found out the truth. Bloody miserable afternoon though, and th ekids enjoyment of the park may have suffered becauseof it!
