The team in Evans era was good enough to win the league. We didn't need more money as we had the players. The players bottled it ... it's been well documented Rashid.

This is a very vulgar and simplistic way of assessing a manager's chances and performance. Surely what a manager does with the players, the way he plays them, the performances he gets out of them in conjunction with his other players, his overall tactics and influence is of more relevance?Originally posted by Rashid View PostEvans Net spend £6.7m a season (at a time when Newcastle were paying £15m for Shearer)
Houllier net spend £11m a season (at a time when Ferguson was spending £30m on Ferdinand and £28m on Veron)
Rafa net spend £20m a season (at a time when United are paying £30m for Berbatov)
All LFC managers look slightly at a disadvantage but Rafa has had more money even taking into account inflation (NET) than any manager in our history.
So I agree, if Evans had more money he would have had a far better go at the league.

Away from the Rashid factual inaccuracies, can someone clarify Cahill's red card for me...
Was it a straight red for the tackle...which deserved only a yellow in my view
Or was it originally going to be a yellow, but Riley upgraded it for the dissent he showed in walking away when the ref was clearly calling him back??

He deserved to go, no question. Players should not turn their back on or walk away from the Referee. It was good refereeing in my opinion, nasty disrespectful *******s like Cahill need to learn to obey the Ref's instructions whether they agree with them or not. Who the **** do these players think they are?Originally posted by Craig_H View PostIt was a nonsense sending off, a yellow card offence and that's it.

Your opinion or the facts tho??Originally posted by Johnny View PostThe tackle was worth a yellow, walking away from the Ref earned him a Red.
I agree it was a yellow, i said that...but did his reaction afterwards earn him the red, or did Riley balls it upOriginally posted by Craig_H View PostIt was a nonsense sending off, a yellow card offence and that's it.
Again, i agree, but is that the official line, or the one that we're all seeing??Originally posted by TheElephantMan View PostHe deserved to go, no question. Yeah IMO Riley should've booked him for the tackle and then booked him again for walking away.
He should also have been booked for the hefty challenge that prompted Arbeloa to boot him, and also should've been booked for raising his hands to Alvaro's face afterwards.
Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

Your opinion of Mascherano's sending off at Old Trafford last season?
I think your opinion, which you're entitled to of course, is influenced by the fact that it was Cahill against us.
If Mascherano or any of our players turned away from the ref, i very much doubt you'd say they should be booked or sent off.
In Cahill's case, it was a straight red, which means he was sent off either JUST for the tackle or JUST for walking away, because you dont get one straight red as an accumulation of two separate offences. It would've been two yellows.

Well if walking away from the ref (without gobbing off, ala Rooney) is a yellow card, then we'll end up with 7 a side in several games.Originally posted by Scratch View PostI agree it was a yellow, i said that...but did his reaction afterwards earn him the red, or did Riley balls it up
In my view, that sort of petty attitude from referees spoils games.

The Referee had no choice, but to send him off. Everyone could see that he was going to be sent off, he lost it completely which was stupid, but at least he showed he had passion. Cahill was just being totally disrespectful and as soon as he walked away I felt that the Ref was going to send him off.Originally posted by Craig_H View Post

I still feel that if we're booking every player who just runs or walks away, then everyone's going to be picking up yellows right, left and centre. It's a nonsense in my view and i still think that had one of our lot just walked away, quietly without gobbing off, and got booked, we'd be up in arms.
Like i also said, it was a straight red so he was sent off entirely for the tackle or the walking away - neither of which merited a red for me.

i reckon cahill was sent off for the tackle alone. from the refs view ( and from the players positions just after the foul ) it may have apeared that cahill had lunged two-footed at alonsoPeople who think there's no good way to die have obviously never heard the phrase 'Drug-fuelled-sex-heart-attack'.
