What position would you class him as then? IMO he's a defensive midfielder with an element of a holding role to his game but lethal on the counter attack also!!Originally posted by Imy View PostEssien is not a holding midfielder thats why they had Makelelelelele and thats when he was at his best too, unfortunatley for him he has to make do in that position as the Chavs have now got ballack, Fat frank and Deco all competing for more advanced positions.El Nino!!

Puyol would be the only one i'd question in that team. Looks like his legs have gone in past couple of seasons and he is a right dirty *******!!Originally posted by PTP View PostPuyol is a fair shout - not sure about Lahm tho, he as been decent in internationals but i would prob take Evra and cole over himEl Nino!!

Carlsberg - probably the best beer in the world - probably not
My team would be(433):
GK - Pepe - don't think there's anyone better at the moment, not even Casillias or Čech
RB - Bosingwa - have been very impressed with him over the last two months or so, other candidates would be Sagna and Alves
LB - A. Cole - simply better than anyone else in that position, Evra is not a very good crosser of the ball, and Lahm is to mistake-prone!
CB - Škrtel - without a doubt a complete centre-back, has it all - pace, strenght, ability; and i'm not just being biased, he rarely makes mistakes, and is one of the best at defending. he only needs to work on going forward, because he looks a bit nervous and out of place when he goes in the opposing half with the ball, but a defender's job is to defend! Other candidates would be: Ferdinand, Terry& Nesta( and maybe even
CB - Vidić - same as above
DM - Mascherano - the best defensive midfielder in the world without a doubt, Makelele took that position to another level, and i think Masch can take it a bit further! Needs to work on his passing though.
CM - Pirlo - maybe a bit past his best, but an absolute artist with the ball, a real "flair" player. the only problem is he took to long to develop into a player he was for the last couple of years, so had limited time playing in the top!
CM - Xavi or Ballack - a dillema here, the team would need Ballack's height at set pieces, and could benefit from Xavi's game inteligence - i'd go with Ballack
RW - Messi - not to much to say about that(could be CR but he's a cunt, and looks utter ****e at the mo)
LW - J. Cole - skillfull player, can play in lots of positions. Robben could be another choice, but he's so injury prone its a gamble
CF - Torres - a complete strikerJürgen Klopp

I love Skrtel, but he makes almost a mistake per game, when he lunges in instead of staying on his feet.Originally posted by SloKopite View Post

A defender's job IS to defend, but a couple of defenders can do that AND offer something useful going forward. Skrtel's class, but he's nowhere near at the level to be in a 'World XI'.
For the record, my team:
Buffon
Lahm Ferdinand Ramos Evra
Mascherano
...Kaka....Gerrard
Ronaldo..................Messi
