    Is Anfield a fortress again?

    From the BBC:
We have the best home Premier League record in 2008 of 10 wins and three draws from 13 matches. The total of 33 points is four more than the next best, Chelsea.

It's definitely a step in the right direction, but are we there yet or does it take years of playing at this level before Anfield becomes the place of nightmares for visiting teams?

Takes years in my opinion. Stamford Bridge is a Fortress, no ****er can deny that.

Absolutely spot on. We need years of being undefeated at home to call Anfield a fortress. I believe so called lesser clubs like Wigan this Saturday believe they can get points at Anfield which shouldn't be the case if we are to challenge for the title. When teams go to Old Toilet or the Bridge, they have mentally lost the game before kick off. Thats the sign to having a fortress.

It's well on the way imo. Once we've won the league this season and battered a few teams everyone will be **** scared next season

We don't need to batter anyone. If we win 6 games 1-0 at home, rather than one game 6-0 then visiting teams will fear us. Nobody (specially not Bruce's Brum) feared us after twanking Derby 6-0 last autumn.

Well we don't need to, but with the extra little bit of quality we have this season we should start getting the pastings our dominance deserves

Chelsea's place is a fortress as their record is ****ing amazing! We are building the walls of a fortress but have a little way to go yet. Chelsea have shown how its done.

It's not a fortress, it's well on the way to becoming one. What we have to get away from is losing games there. I remember the days where we maybe lost 1 or 2 games a season at Anfield.

Anyway, we are well o the way to building a dominant team, I think the fact that we can come back from deficits and still win will put fear into teams. they can't go one up and then park the bus anymore.

We have lost three out of the last 60 league games at Anfield.

That is almost a fortress type of record.
Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

Agreed, but the amounts of draws we have got in the near past is what has stopped Anfield from becoming a fortress.

If we keep doing what we are now, which is winning even if it is ugly, Anfield will become a fortress once again.

Chelsea haven't lost a league game since February 2004 at the Bridge

It will only have any chance of being a fortress next year. If we win the league or go close teams will eventually start to feel that Liverpool are a tough team to face.

At the moment most people are looking at Liverpool and waiting for them to fall flat on their face. You only have to look at the likes of rage to know we have a long way to go before opponents come to Anfield with their tails between their legs.

Though I would say the people with the biggest part to play are the fans. A large proportion of home fans sometimes give the impression that the games being played in a morgue, and there are times in games where you can sense the frustration growing in the stands. At Old Trafford and the Bridge they expect their team to get a late equaliser or winner. At Anfield if we are 1-0 up we expect the opposition to snatch a late goal.

That is the difference. Before we can expect the opposition to be afraid we must first believe in ourselves. That is where the real battle is at.

Tomorrows game is the case in point as to why its not a fortress. Wigan will come to us thinking they can get something out of the game by parking the bus with 10 men behind the ball, and while they would do that against any top 4 side i suspect they would be more confident about it working at Anfield rather than OT or Stamford Bridge.
