AGGER BACK FOR REDS VERSUS WIGAN

Jimmy Rice at Anfield 18 October 2008

Daniel Agger replaces the injured Martin Skrtel in the heart of Liverpool's defence for this afternoon's clash with Wigan - a game you can listen to live online from 2.55pm BST.

The Dane makes his first Premier League start of the season, as does Jermaine Pennant, while Rafa Benitez has selected Robbie Keane and Dirk Kuyt up front in the absence of the hamstrung Fernando Torres.

The Reds XI in full is:

Reina, Arbeloa, Dossena, Agger, Carragher, Riera, Pennant, Alonso, Gerrard, Kuyt, Keane.

Subs: Cavalieri, Hyypia, Insua, Benayoun, Ngog, Lucas, El Zhar.

Strong team, good to see a few kids on the bench too. Hopefully we can wrap this up at half time and give Insua & El Zhar a run out.

Agger & Carragher will take care of Heskey & Zaki

    Are Aurellio & Mascherano injured?!

Pennant? Strange decision that one - would rather have started with Yossi.

Pennant should not get a game. The rest is strong though. Good to see Insua on the bench
Oh the man is a midfield maestro
and his passes are sooo delightful

Aurelio is always injured as for Mascher, I think he played for the Argies in midweek and probably had a long flight.

Plenty of width there, maybe there will be plenty of pace for Gerrard and Keane.
                  * The above is posted in my opinion. Feel free to disagree.

Apparently Masch only got back last night so it's unreasonable to expect him to play today.

                    Aurelio is injured again.

I think I read somewhere that Yossi picked up a bit of knock playing for Israel so that may explain him only making the bench.

I would not have played Pennant either, would like to have given him no hint of a future career and played El Zhar to see if he could step up.

Having said that I am sure he will flatter to decieve and will have at least one assist.

Benayoun probably isn't starting because Rafa mentioned he has a knock.

Considering the injuries and players available, this is a good team.

Definitely a chance for Pennant to prove himself. Nice to see us playing with two classic wingers.

Dissapointing that Mascher got back so late and Benayoun also been globe-trotting. I guess its the same with all the big european clubs, all missing players that have travelled alot

3-1 win for the Redmen today me thinks. Apart from Pennant that is a strong line up
