Totally agree mate. When he put the effort in, he was effective. He just didnt put much effort in. At all!

As infuriating, is that MOTD made us look brilliant, and we were shocking for the most part!

I was asking as I find it can be hard to judge the impact and effort of wide players on TV. Hope you enjoyed the game - I guess the final result helped.

Pennant is infuriating. I think though that the right manager would turn him round. I'd like to see him under someone like Redknapp or possibly Capello. The former certainly seems to work well with players and make them feel confident and want to work. Capello has shown with Heskey that he has the eye for making players with problems with their mentality step up (although to be fair Heskey was always a willing worker).

Thats how I see it too. For a player thats blatantly not flavour of the month, I would expect a hell of a lot more effort than he gives.

So because you think he's limited means he's not worthy of praise?

I dont recall saying he isnt worthy of praise, but surely praise needs to be earned by being more than just 'ok'.

Or are our standards descending to that of a mid table team now?
