bad luck or terrible defending? needs sorting either way.

we've managed to come back in games where they have gone down to 10 men because of stupid decisions by opposition players. Can't keep relying on that.

love seeing rafa throwing the kitchen sink at it but we shouldn't keep having to.

worrying, with a little less luck we could have had half the points we do.
I think Sami's first game back in the starting XI after Agger's injury last season was the derby in which he conceded an own goal. I remember thinking that he might not have the legs to do well after that, but he went on to have a good season and didnt put many feet wrong after that.

I think it might be the same with agger. playing in the league for the first time against decidedly different opposition than liege or carling cup with an on form striker and dagger was off the pace. but I have faith that he'll come on and the defense will shore up again.

We also conceded 2 against citeh with skrtel.

Who cares what anyone says anyway. For now we can enjoy the 3 points and the fact we're joint top of the Premiership with the chance next week to go top outright. Happy days.

I haven't read the match thread, but did anyone notice notice El Zhar's run and the pass to Kuyt which got the goal. It looks great in slo mo. He lifted the ball about five or so inches off of the ground which was high enough to get it over the outstretched foot of the defender and low enough so Kuyt didn't have to bring it down.... brilliant.. Was that his first touch of the ball as well?
"That's how I found myself on the Kop that day I had my blue-and-white scarf safely tucked away inside my coat as I listened to Liverpool songs and swayed with the masses.

Then City scored and I screeched and this big bloke, a Liverpool supporter, made towards me and I thought he was going to throttle me. But he just pulled my scarf from under my coat so it lay on the outside, and said: "You should always be proud of your colours, lad."

We really don't like to have a quiet, comfortable home victory, do we?

A couple of nice step overs too before he... as you say.. just gently lifted it to er.....Reira.

Aggers feint and pass was excellent too.

Bugs me why more players don't do that, go as if to cross to commit the defender, suppose not all players have the presence of mind in the heat of battle.

i know agger ****ed up for the first goal, but **** rio, Agger is what you call a cultured centre back. He is so confortable on the ball, looks a different class to any centre back in the premiership really looking forward to him getting a run in the team.

How many league goals has Kuyt scored this season? And how many in all competitions?

Unreal the recoveries this season. Thought it couldn't possibly happen again but it did. It just seems to take a moment for it to change and I think once again it was the sending off. Wigan fell apart after that. Well in Rafa for going for it though. He's a less conservative manager these days. Wigan, to their credit, were the better team until the sending off.

Reina - didn't have a lot to do but, was involved in the catastrophe that was the first goal. Should take some of the blame.
Agger - Fair play to him, he hasn't played for us for a long time and it was a howler. But he didnt hide and set up the second goal. I think he will be back to his old ways but needs a few games.
Carra - what a legend. he held us together at the back when we were really shaky and covered for Agger a few times. He will certainly help Agger with his confidence. Put in some decent crosses too.
Arby - solid enough, got forward well but could have been positioned better for the goal
Dossena - oh dear. his defending was shocking today, and was to blame for allowing too many opportunities to cross the ball. Offered little going forward and at this point he is not worthy of his place. A couple of careless passes didnt help.
Alonso- I thought he made us tick. Always shows for the ball and keeps it moving. Shooting is off definitely dictated today. Sprayed some nice passes around and I think he's coming back to form. Three players in three games sent off for tackles on him. Weird!
Gerrard - Again, doesn't seem to show up until the last 20 minutes in games. Was out of it completely first half. Once he gets going he's unstoppable of course. Nice look when El Zhar had the ball to spot Riera.
Pennant - Got one decent cross into Kuyt and was tidy still dont think he takes on his man enough. And I hate those lobbed ineffective crosses.
Benny - Looked really good when he came on
Keane - Poor. Tries hard but is always either a step ahead or behind where the ball is falling. Some poor decision making from him at time today. Needs to keep it simple.
Riera - Star. Great first touch and composure. Great finish for the goal on his weaker foot, really controlled his effort. Made some nice tackles too and is looking our best summer buy.
El Zhar - I'd pick him over Pennant. Deserves a run for his positive attitudes.
Kuyt - Well, his first touch is crap, he is slow, but he is on fire. Nearly missed both goals and Kirkland help him out. His shot against the bar was the brilliant. Game changer right now. I'll still give him **** for the other stuff though.

                          Zaki - Buy this lad.

Rashid and Rage have been very very quiet lately. Why is that?

Must be this yob culture of todays people who condone tackles like that as acceptable.
