    Agger's mental strength

Just thought it deserved its own thread. Got dropped for Skrtel this season, kept working hard, didn't complain despite the rubbish the media spouted and got a chance today. Made a shocking mistake that was due to rust more than anything, but got on with it and didn't let it unsettle him, something that would have happened to most players. Wasn't afraid to get forward and set up that wonderful goal, then had a flawless second half in which he was fantastic in the air and on the ground.

We need to get the lad signed up to a new long term contract because he's a winner and has the confidence of a champion. No doubt in my mind that he'll become a Liverpool legend down the years. Love him.

    Well in Dagger.

He was absolutely all over the place until his part in our first goal, which seemed to give him an added determination to make amends. After that he was largely a different player - oozing confidence and in the second half he was strutting around like Beckenbauer.
Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

He's a fantastic footballer no doubt. He displays so much class for a central defender. We're very well catered on that front this season, with Skrtel also a fantastic player who's also good on the ball.

The move leading to our first goal was magnificent. We need to tie this player down to a long term deal as he must be the classiest central defender around in world football at the moment.

He was at fault for the first goal, obviously. But then again Reina shouldn't have passed to him with Zaki close. Also, caught out of position for the second, but maybe that was because he had no faith in Dossena winning the ball and went to help.

With a few more games under his belt hopefully he will be back to his best. The best defender we have at bringing the ball forward. Hopefully he will sign a new deal soon and go on to be a great player for us over the nest 7/8 years.

Shocking error for the first goal, followed by a stunning assist for Kuyt.

He's potentially a world class center back and has the next two months to make himself undroppable.

I have every faith in him.

I think he will as well, think skrtel will find himself on the bench and rotating with jamie C, if the old trojan starts to get a bit knackered

One game fella's, lets not get carried away.

Lets see how he handles Chelsea next sunday.

just thought i'd add my two pence - he's a great player that offers us something we dont get from our other centre halfs. I think we are weaker defensively when we play play agger and carra compared to skrtel and carra but we gain more offensively with agger balancing both partnerships out. when skrtel is fit again i'd like to see agger and him together at some stage even to just give carra a rest

                        One game?

I'm not judging him on today. I'm judging him from the time he has been here and he's one of the best defenders around at the moment

His ability to carry the ball out of defence and into the opposition half gives us a different dimension going forward. Class.

Hmmm, I dont think Carra is quite as good as he has been in the past. I think he has lost a tiny little bit of pace. Still a couple of season left at the top. I would have thought. Agger is probably the natural successor to Hyypia, and Skrtel to Carra. To be honest I would care which 2 out of that 4 were playing in most games.

Thought Agger was unlucky today. Reina played a ball that he never should have played. Blame has to lie there, although Agger shouldnt be running back to goal to take possesion.
In the beginning, Fowler created the Heaven and the Earth.

I don't understand this view. It's not like it doesn't happen pretty often during a game. Zaki was about 15 yards from Agger. Not ideal granted but he had enough time to control the ball properly and shift it to a full-back, or even just launch it. His first touch was awful and he was very slack and overly casual. No blame for Reina from me.
