Nobody's saying title winners dont drop points against crap teams. Keep your blood pressure down

But teams who win the premier league, nearly alwyays win the vast majority of their home league games.

    Exhibit A -
    Man Utd 2008 champions: Home record - P19 W17 D1 L1 - 5 points dropped

    Exhibit B -
    Man Utd 2007 champions: Home record - P19 W15 D2 L2 - 10 points dropped

    Exhibit C -
    Chelsea 2006 champions: Home record - P19 W18 D1 L0 - 2 points dropped

    Exhibit D -
    Chelsea 2005 champions: Home record - P19 W14 D5 L0 - 10 points dropped

    Exhibit E -
    Arsenal 2004 champions: Home record - P19 W15 D5 L0 - 10 points dropped

    Exhibit F -
    Man Utd 2003 champions: Home record - P19 W16 D2 L1 - 7 points dropped

Need i go on? We've only played half the season and dropped 8 home points already.

So before you call people '****ing morons', perhaps you should do your research and check your facts, because the '****ing morons' are making a valid point, backed up by facts.

We all believe we should be turning over teams like Hull, Fulham, West Ham etc, but you must understand not all of us think it is our divine right to win these games. What is so hard to understand about that?

This is an absolute joke of a thread. Really disappoints me when supporters are near on abused or shot down for having the gall to suggest that we should not take for granted that we will win every game against the so called smaller teams.

Arrogance is not a word I associate with Liverpool FC - if anything we have a humbleness and humility which is borne out of the general respect, yes respect, we show opponents in victory and defeat. FFS.

      Unbelievable. Really.
Nobody's saying it's our devine right. People are talking about what a title winning side usually needs to achieve and given that we're considering ourselves in the title race and in with a chance of winning it, people are measuring our record against the benchmark of title winning sides.

Yes, they drew 5 times at home across the whole season.

We've done it 4 times just before halfway. Funnily enough, we're putting ourselves under enormous pressure not to have any more home ****-ups for the next 5 and a half months.

It's what we're about sadly. Whatever poor results we have, we always find some kind of excuse.

I think what some of us are saying is that we know the results WAS NOT GD ENOUGH and I don't think we are trying to find an excuse for the team or Rafa. I am sure we all wondered why Keane was not played etc and have our own "expert" opinion on how the game should be won.

We are all frustrated that we are not 8 pts clear and I am sure Chelski is frustrated they are not 1 pt clear of us by today! What i believe some of the fans here are saying is that it time to move on, get some support behind the team and support them out of this run of poor form.

we pride in our support so let's bloody show it!
        We going to win #19th!!

guess Villa is going to win the league then since all the supposedly top 4 have dropped pts to lesser teams while Villa has been banging in the goals and showing the benchmark of title winning sides.

But you can't do that. Benchmarks mean nothing when the quality of teams is improving all the time, more so tactically. It's 11 men against 11 men not 11 robots against 11 robots.

We just have to better what our title contenders do this season.
The arsenal situation was one rare exception, as opposed to what happens pretty much every season.

PL title winners dropping no more than 10 home points has happened every year for the last 5 or 6 seasons, so it's reasonable to suggest that it's a more accurate barometer to use, considering it's applied every year since about 2002.

So as fans, let's bloody do our part and support the team rather than putting them under additional pressure when the play at Anfield with all the moanings and booing.
Coming on here to say we should beat weaker sides at Anfield doesnt mean we go to the game and boo. There's posting on a forum and then there's being at the game. The two things are worlds apart.

No mate I'm afraid it's not. It shows a clear amount of frustration in an individual that's likely to spill out during games.

I really don't see what you gain by accusing people of making excuses.
I like how you add a bit of 'controversy' by using words like 'accusing'.

I interpret a lot of what's said as excuses. You dont. Fair play.

They've been crying out for him to be benched because he was rubbish. He had a good game in Europe and found a bit of form then gets benched. People are moaning because we played 4-5-1 at home and even when we were 'trying' to win the game we still didn't bring on our second most expensive striker, we bought on Lucas

What's the reason for spending £20m on him if you're not going to bring him on when you're trying to find a winner at home against Hull?

That's what people are questioning. Seems like if you have a decent game and you're not the likes of Gerrard, Torres, Carra, Reina you get benched next game.

If Rafa is moaning come the Summer or January about spending money on players I think the owners are well within their rights to ask why he has £31m worth of attacking talent sitting on the bench game in and game out.

Am I the only one who finds that confusing?

not targetting with anyone specific in this forum with that comment but more a comment about fans in general, especially to those who do go to anfield to do their part after all the recent booing or moaning we hear during the game.

So you agree that it's not good enough. Therefore you and i dont have anything to debate on that aspect.

As for support and pride - as i said already, posting on here is nothing like going to the game. Forums are here for people to discuss, vent, appreciate, celebrate and anything else (within the rules). Going to the match is about supporting the team throughout and then after you go home, you're entited to vent in pubs, clubs or, indeed, on forums.

As for moving on - it's characteristic of forums like this where one of the main topics will be the last game - until the next one comes along.

Nobody's losing sleep or has stopped their day-to-day life, it's not a case of having NOT moved on. It's just that it was our last match and for some people, a the feelings of a bad result are only erased when the next good one comes along.
