IMO all this Rafa-bashing is ruining this forum and, in my book, you, Craig and, especially, Sarb are the worst offenders. No-one minds you having a different opinion from most of the rest of us and no-one minds you expressing it. However I really do believe you need to stop shoving it down out throats at every opportunity.

In short, you've made your point. Give it a rest, please, mate.

That is the crux of the problem. I actually agree with much of what these guys say but find myself getting sick and tired of seeing every thread turn into an anti-Rafa tirade. No offence guys.

See, I'm not sure that is too much of a different opinion directly.

I thought both articles were interesting and had an element of truth to them, which is why I posted them both

The lfconline one is an interesting commentary on the nature of football supporting these days, and how it is a much more reactionary thing than it used to be, with its ending points being to heavily criticise booing at the ground and supporters not getting behind the team on match days. I would think, although I could be wrong Rage, that you would agree that in the ground our supporters should be getting 100% behind the team, whatever they says afterwards on sites like this.

The other article is bemoaning a few of Rafa's decisions recently, something that even those who fully support him, like myself, would agree with, unless they are being pig-headed. Nobody is infallible, every manager makes strange decisions and mistakes (to pluck some random examples; Fergie - Alan Smith as a midfielder, Veron, Maureen - that 3 subs at half time thing, Veron, Wenger - Wiltord, goalkeepers, Senderos, Vero... oh, maybe not him.... etc etc), but there is always a bigger picture. That article also you will notice ends...

"Normal service will soon be restored, and Rafa will rediscover his sense of adventure...."

...which is the view most people have, and is certainly not contrary to what I posted above. In fact its a good example of how criticism can still be constructive, and people can point out what they believe to be errors while still maintaining some sort of positive outlook.

Oh don't even start that, if there's one thing this site doesn't have anymore its cliques. And if anyone mentions rcdnw or anti-rafa brigades in response they get banned for a week, that's not cliques, its imaginary argumental constructions of no value whatsoever. Every site has its regular posters, but someone's got to post something or it really would be a graveyard.

Anyway, they all ****ed off elsewhere ages ago

Sorry elvoz but i thought that was funny.

Great Article, a pretty fair appraisal of how fans attitudes to football and their clubs has changed in the modern era.

the funy thing is its forums such as this - which is sound - where you get people not even at the ground telling those of us there that the atmosphere was ****e etc that doesnt actually help

I can see how saying to a game going fan that the atmosphere was **** would irk, some do expect a European semi type atmosphere every week, which won't happen.

Take no heed and just keep supporting, (just try stopping you right), is all you can do, just be satisfied yourself that you have supported the side and all is well.

And yes..lets put it up the arsenal

                            same as that

i thought this thread was going to be about real madrid since they are a mob arent they?

It wasn't really the article you posted - it was the accompanying point about pulling fingers out of ears.

This thread really is about how modern fans relate to football and yet your comment was really nothing more than an attempt (conscious or otherwise) to ignite the same debate here as has been ad nauseam on other threads.
                              .
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.
