"Sky and Setanta have the right to choose their games and it will be the same for everyone. So Mr Ferguson will not be complaining about fixtures and a campaign against United.
"Or there is another option. That Mr Ferguson organises the fixtures in his office and sends it to us and everyone will know and cannot complain. That is simple."
See, I'm not sure that is too much of a different opinion directly.
I thought both articles were interesting and had an element of truth to them, which is why I posted them both
The lfconline one is an interesting commentary on the nature of football supporting these days, and how it is a much more reactionary thing than it used to be, with its ending points being to heavily criticise booing at the ground and supporters not getting behind the team on match days. I would think, although I could be wrong Rage, that you would agree that in the ground our supporters should be getting 100% behind the team, whatever they says afterwards on sites like this.
The other article is bemoaning a few of Rafa's decisions recently, something that even those who fully support him, like myself, would agree with, unless they are being pig-headed. Nobody is infallible, every manager makes strange decisions and mistakes (to pluck some random examples; Fergie - Alan Smith as a midfielder, Veron, Maureen - that 3 subs at half time thing, Veron, Wenger - Wiltord, goalkeepers, Senderos, Vero... oh, maybe not him.... etc etc), but there is always a bigger picture. That article also you will notice ends...
"Normal service will soon be restored, and Rafa will rediscover his sense of adventure...."
...which is the view most people have, and is certainly not contrary to what I posted above. In fact its a good example of how criticism can still be constructive, and people can point out what they believe to be errors while still maintaining some sort of positive outlook.
agree completely Mr M. Its no secret that I disagree with many in here but i'd much rather be able to vent my frustrations on here than at the ground. I really struggle with the booing, i didn't even boo during the last season under houllier, remember snoring at one game 'cos i was bored to death with his type of football but not booed.
I think more and more people are getting frustrated and the actual divide between fans is growing. I cannot imagine what it would be like for a fan in their early 20s who barely remembers us winning the title.
at the beginning of the season i remember mumbling about wanting to be still in the title race at xmas and maybe i should be pleased that we're top. but honestly, i'm more frustrated than pleased. i really do think we're top because the other teams have messed up more than we have. the home results against stoke, fulham and hull showed for me everything that continues to be wrong with rafa.
i've been following the team since the 70s and i remember the likes of paisley and fagan like it was only yesterday. they set high standards and i really really struggle with the existing majority opinion that even if rafa doesn't win the title after 5 seasons in charge he should be given another chance.
BUT if he does win it this year, i see no reason why we can't dominate the league for the next 3 or 4 years with the current core crop of players

Thats what being top of the table is. Try dealing with it fella. Hard to accept, I know.

Well I've been going to Anfield since 1965 and I remember well the 7-year period after winning the league in 1966 before we won another trophy (2 trophies in fact - in 1973) when we won precisely bugger all - not even a League Cup. So by your reckoning I suppose we should have sacked Bill Shankly after 5 years for the complete lack of success in that period?

just remind me with your revisionist and factually selective history where we were when shanks took over?
but but we are Liverpool and its our divine right to win the league every year.
ah another rafa apologist. cloud the facts with extreme opinions in the hope that we can create a scenario that disguises the truth - its not about winning the league every year.
the mob never rule MR M. they're usually just the brave individuals who are prepared to stand for failings in a society, a country or even a regime any longer.

I think both of these posts show the sorts of attacks on straw men and stereotyping of posters that have caused debate on this site to degenerate all too frequently into fighting.
It would be appreciated if both sides of the imaginary divide would stop making such deliberately provocative posts. If it continues then we will have to become increasingly proactive in dealing with it as mods. It is in everyone's best interests if people could just learn to accept differing opinions, debate and comment without resorting to lumping people into factions, facile attacks on one another and childish name calling.
It isn't just name calling that qualifies as disrespectful and people shouldn't have to accept that to venture any opinion is to pick a side in some long running battle. At the same time people should not be held up for vilification just because they have a minority opinion.
I could not dig, I dared not rob:
Therefore I lied to please the mob.
Now all my lies are proved untrue
And I must face the men I slew.
What tale shall serve me here among
Mine angry and defrauded young?
