Question Rage - which striker should've replaced him?

Babel? - you said in another thread that he's really not been at the races this season.

N'gog? - really very very raw still.

Notwithstanding the fact that both did come on, really imo Kuyt, although not exactly "mr 30 goal a season", was pretty much the best striking option to go up top in place of Keane, and El Zhar to take his place out wide.

He'll just say 'oh well we shouldnt have taken off keane then'.

Even though it was clear that the lad was out on his feet.

think we lost any real chance of winning the game when keane went off and was replaced by a midfielder with kuyt moving upfront.

kuyt had an excellent game on the right but a striker he is not. neither is babel in the role he plays for us and ngog came on far too late to have an impact.

So what should we have done FFS? Brought on Eto'o?

i actually wouldn't have taken keane off. he was tiring as some observed, i watched the game on telly and agree u don't see enough off the ball stuff on there.

but because he was tiring and that we really didn't have any real proven or inform talent on the bench i would have put either babel or ngog or even kuyt to play upfront alongside keane to help him out.

i think we should have tried to keep the lad on the pitch and changed our formation to do so

again you are selective with what i said. i wanted to see babel brought on to play upfront at the expense of lucas

If we'd done that and lost, you'd be on here having a go at the decision.

                        Admit it.

how is that selective? you wanted babel brought on yet after the game you were saying, correctly imo, that he has not been at the races. Its irrelevant who you wanted him on for, you wanted a player not at the races on at half time. You can't have it all ways.

Why do this to yourself? Contradictory does not even begin to describe. I really really hope you are a WUM because I would hate to think there are really people around that can only see negativity.

No, if we'd gone with your option and lost, you'd be bitching about it.

Some of our set pieces today were Houllier-esque. Get a free kick where a ball could be played into the box and we give it back to our keeper.

A draw was a fair result, we didn't go for the throat nearly enough after the red card.

Thought Keane did excellently for the goal and his layoff to Gerrard when it was 0-0 was also deserving of better.
