      seriously???

gerard wasn't involved as much as i'd like but he didn't have a bad game.
arbeloa was pretty solid again. got forward when he could and did okay defensively. both these players were worse than lucas u reckon?

i thought gerrard was poor also. arbeloa was dependable. carra was at fault for the goal but really lucas is either not good enough or plays within himself too much.

I thought Gerrard was ineffective today, his passing was awful. I really thought he did not offer enough.

I have a thing about Arbeloa and he def isn't my favourite player so maybe that is tinged with bias. However, I did not see a lot that he did.

Yes I reckon both were worse than him today. Could argue that Kuyt and Riera were too. Interesting to see how many people had him in their top 3 for mom in the thread today as well.

Its not just match threads though, as those are always tinged with emotion anyway, it seems to be all threads. Any thread that you post into seems to have negative vibes. Surely, surely, you can see some positives from this season to date even if you still have doubts??
of course there are positives. we're competing at the top inspite of our average home form. we comfortably qualified past the group stages and i'm looking forward to a trip to madrid. never seen us play madrid in my lifetime. we outplayed both chelsea and utd at home and have developed a never say die attitude that was unheard of in seasons past. we have our best crop of players since the evans era and the houllier days are well behind us/

its no secret that i'm not a rafa fan but thats because of his negating the opposition priority and his faith in some players that are clear failures. it still doesn't take away from his best 1/2 season with us so far.

my doubts are that rafa repeats the same mistakes or indeed missed opportunities and once again it'll cost us.

Lucas had a good game today, got the ball and moved it on...looked scared?? No, he didn't dwell on the ball, and kept the game flowing....there's a difference.

Gerrard was inneffective, summed up by his antics when driving towards the Arsenal box...when he goes looking for a freekick like that, you know he's not on top of his game.

How anyone can criticise Lucas after that game is beyond me...some people really do only see the bad things that a player does, not the good.

Lucas did okay after a poor start. He's not much use in the air though.

He should have gone off for Babel but for tactical reasons.

i can easily criticise lucas after that game because IMO he was so negative. he dwells far far to long on the ball, got caught in possession more than any other player and never once played the ball forward. i can see positives in most players but again IMO lucas has not progressed at all in his time with us.
