They can take him in and question him about the incident but to arrest him they more or less must have good evidence.

If they were drunk they can keep them in the cells overnight to sober up before questioning.

So if no video evidence, but Gerrard did throw a punch...then a mate takes the fall ...sorted, no case to answer for Stevie...Gets back to winning us the Title.

There have been 6 arrested. There is a possibility that one of Gerrard's mates has smacked someone when pissed and has probably given them a broken nose.
