Thats all very well but Rafas attitude looks rather hypocritical at the moment, no?
Insane team choices (being noted by almost everyone) that are not going to be for the good of the club.

I dunno what the hell is going on backstage but Bill and Bob will be bloody furious!

      Good.

Didn't Rafa say today that he has had to have a serious talk with players, to tell them to forget about behind the scenes things and just think football, ok i know it's Rafa who's said this, but as we say, who knows.

Keane is a quality player, as his Prem record proves. You do not lose that sort of talent overnight. I remember Owen going through many lean spells, yet we persisted with him in the knowledge that he would then go on a decent run of goals. Keane tends to be the same in that he can score in streaks or purple patches. But he thrives off confidence, as do many strikers. How can he gain any form of confidence when he's constantly dropped or dragged off after 60mins? I heard on Talksport this morning that he has yet to get two consecutive 90min games in the Prem with us. How is he meant to score regularly and fit in with Torres et al if he doesn't get a regular run? Even when he finally starts scoring, he gets bloody benched. When Crouch started for us and couldn't buy a goal, Rafa persisted with him. Yet he keeps benching £20mill worth of wasted talent. Play him or sell him. What a ****ing waste of funds.

With that much time on the pitch, complaining about him not being on for the last 10 mins like Berbatov is grasping at straws.
If you want to look at it that way, then 18 hours of football equates to 12 matches. Hes got 5 goals so hes getting a goal every 2.4 games. Perhaps if he had played for the full games he would have got another 2 or 3 which would have earned us another 4 points.

But he has been woeful! Two of those goals he was clearly offside and has offered absolutely nothing in almost every single one of those games.

Cisse had a much better goals to games ratio but it was pretty clear he wasn't good enough and neither is Keane. I don't buy this mistreatment of Keane for one minute as I have been amazed he has kept him on the pitch as long as he did, why should Keane get any sort of special treatment when he is offering nothing to the team.

i'm on the side of robbie keane in this one. he's put in some really good performances and works really hard. just because he's having difficulty coming to terms with the many counter-intuitive aspects of rafa's "system" doesn't mean he's become crap.

sorry about the slightly cryptic nature of this but this is 100% bonafide - i just spoke to a work colleague who informed me that someone who works where we work - but i have no contact with - is a very close blood relative of robbie keane. she told the guy i work with that when robbie was taken off after scoring twice agaist bolton, rafa told him his performance was useless!!! FFS!!! at some stage you shoot yourself in the foot if you can't manage different type players to get the best out of them.

He's been pretty terrible since he's joined and he keeps getting regular games. That's pretty good treatment if you ask me.

Sorry mate, but I don't believe Rafa would ever tell a player - especially an experienced pro like Keane that his performance was "useless". We all know full well that Rafa will provide player's with constructive criticism no matter how well they've played. It's his way of making sure they don't rest on their laurels. But I really can't see him saying someone was useless.

Fact is two of those goals should have been disallowed and this is due to him constantly being caught offside and general lack of ability. Does my age have some bearing on this?

The Owen situation was completely different. I remember during his 'worst' patch. He was derided by the press for failing to find the net (including a penalty miss). What they failed to mention was that he was the best player on the pitch by miles.

Keane is a different case altogether.

I assume The Piggy means his two goals against West Brom?

I'm sick and tired of people having a go at Rafa for 'dropping' RK after that game. We won 5-1 away FFS, at Newcastle where away teams have not been winning of late, so he was perfectly justified in leaving Keane out.

Rafa's crazy idea that when the ball comes to a striker 6 yards out, rather than dummy the ball and let it fly past for a goal kick/throw in, kick it in the goal. Him and his crazy ways.

We've had a problem buying strikers for ages, most seem to lose all goal scoring ability once signed, missing the simplest of chances that we ALL know they should score, if Keane had only taken the sitters he's missed we'd be so much better off, i'm with Keane, i think he has what it takes, the problem is with all the media attention on him it could hinder him further.

Its a stupid comment. How many times has he and others been blown for offside when they wernt. If you were old enough to know better you would be aware that these things balance themselves out.

Did you shout at the ref to disallow the goals?
