Babel: I'll respond to Rafa chat

Ryan Babel has spoken of his determination to up his game after a heart to heart with Rafa Benitez.
The Dutch winger lifted the lid on a chat in which the gaffer outlined areas he needed to improve to gain regular first-team football.

Babel is confident he can respond over the coming months and play a part in Liverpool's title charge.

The 22-year-old said: "I'm still young, but I want to play as many games as possible. We talked and the boss outlined the areas where I need to improve my game, and hopefully I can bring those areas up to the next level soon.

"My career has had a lot of ups and a few downs until this point. But I am confident it will be okay.

"When I was young I didn't get picked by Ajax after three trial games. After the third game, I thought I didn't want to play for them anymore. But when I returned to my club I did well and eventually Ajax came back for me again. I take a lot of strength and belief from that.

"I'm always confident. I know I have potential. It's up to me to work hard. Nothing good ever comes for free and I believe in my ability.

"But unfortunately only 11 players can start each week, and it's up to those who don't play as much to work even harder."

Babel added: "Somebody said recently that if the second half of the season goes the same way as the first, we'll be champions. Let's hope so.

"Right now we are top of the table and doing well.

"I want to do my bit for the team as we challenge for the title."

We really need the lad to start performing now, lets hope he can do it.
"Let me say for the record, I am not a gangster and never have been. Im not the thief who grabs your purse. Im not the guy who jacks your car. Im not down with the people who steal and hurt others. Im just a brother who fight back."

Well at least he is starting to show signs of being willing to learn. That is a real positive for me. Now he has to show that he has taken that to heart.

It's good to hear but reading it closely you can sense the lack of self belief, which IMO is the root of all his problems. I hope he can overcome them.

Good to hear, now back it up on the pitch.

A genuine potential matchwinner, we need to bring him on another level.

With this attitude he can still become a massive player for us.

Is LFC renowned for bringing out the best in their players?

I don't really remember us getting somebody like Henry or Ronaldo and turning them into world class.

              We normally get rid.

Gerrard aside and maybe Sami, i'm not really sure.
I hope maybe Skrtel at some point.

I think it may have been different for Babel, had he gone to Arsenal for example.

ok good lad - work hard and listen to the advice.

these fellas train for only a few hours a day. if rafa has told him to work on x,y or z then what he should do is stay behind for the next 4 weeks and put in a few extra hours and see what happens. he may get a chance at least
"Sky and Setanta have the right to choose their games and it will be the same for everyone. So Mr Ferguson will not be complaining about fixtures and a campaign against United.

"Or there is another option. That Mr Ferguson organises the fixtures in his office and sends it to us and everyone will know and cannot complain. That is simple."

Could say we have really improved Reina, Agger, Skrtle, Insua, Mascherano, Alonso and Torres. If Riera can keep up his form might even be able to throw him in the list.

Time will tell Ryan, its only words however positive, we need to see some proof on the pitch, work your socks off for once like Dirk Kuyt, that would be a start

Hope he can pick it up, on form he's in a different class to Yossi IMO.

Thats very good to hear. If Rafa has had a personal chat with him, it shows Babel is in his future plans which is a good thing because I personally think Babel can only improve. He hasn't shown that so far this season but he strikes me as a young player who needs a bit of loving and thats expected coming into a different country with competition for places in one of the elite teams in Europe.

From what he is saying his attitude seems to be spot on, hopefully he backs this up in training and on the pitch! Been really dissapointed with him so far this season, but there is still half a season to go and he could make a real postive impact for us if he puts the work in!

Agree with most points made. He obviously has potential and he only has to listen to the beststriker in the world who says he has improved under rafa to know that he has to listen to what he is being told and then apply it on the pitch. At least he has made the first step though
                            in january we were doomed.

in august we will rise from the ashes of ****e and march on again

Could be like a new signing as well
