Why was he not selected for the Newcastle game after scoring 2 against Bolton in the previous one? how can anyone explain that?Originally posted by ShaggyAlonso View PostNo he hasn't. Ok he hasn't been great but Keane is a player who thrives on confidence more than most players hence knowing that no matter what he does he's going to be subbed come the 70min mark is bound to **** him up mentally."Let me say for the record, I am not a gangster and never have been. Im not the thief who grabs your purse. Im not the guy who jacks your car. Im not down with the people who steal and hurt others. Im just a brother who fight back."

Because he didn't fit the team plan - did the team against Newcastle do it's job? Yes it did. So he was left out to play a specific way which was ideal for the game in hand.Originally posted by Marky View PostWhy was he not selected for the Newcastle game after scoring 2 against Bolton in the previous one? how can anyone explain that?

Yes it did. The display against the Barcodes was very very good. But Keane does need to have a sloid run of games, especially after he's scored a couple. He's clearly low on confidence. I wouldn't say he's been treated like ****e, but I do think he's been mismanaged when he's been dropped after scoring in the previous game. And to be fair, against that Newcastle side, even Keane would have had a hatrick.Originally posted by dww View PostBecause he didn't fit the team plan - did the team against Newcastle do it's job? Why do people keep saying that as if we were playing a conference team? In Newcastle’s last home 8 games, only one team has won, guess who? Kinnear has made Newcastle hard to beat and we absolutely annihilated them. It’s also a favoured argument for those who don’t think we can't play good football under ‘cautious’ Rafa.Originally posted by Baldemort View PostYes it did. Credit where credit is due.If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

Oh i give rafa a lot of credit for that result. I saw the line up and thought 'what the fuk?'. But he evidently got it spot on. He does deserve credit for that.
but regardless of what joe has done with that team, they were absolutely shocking. I have never seen a first half like it. A string of saves and goal line clearances prevented it from being 5 or 6 by half time. We could have had double figures that game. They were awful. Thats why i am saying keane would have scored a few against them easily.President of the Ban Smileys Society

I'd like to think so too but how many absolute sitters did Keane miss against Preston - 4 or 5? With that in mind, I don't think you can definately say Keane would have scored a hat trick against Newcastle.Originally posted by Baldemort View PostOh i give rafa a lot of credit for that result. I think just as importantly the movement of Kuyt was key to that win. Keane may or may not have provided the same but to assume he would I think is deeply disingenuous to him. He has often struggled up top on his own but in that game the front four were all excellent and I don't see how anyone can disentangle how much Newcastle were **** of their own volition and how much it was forced upon them by our excellence."The man who never alters his opinion is like standing water, and breeds reptiles of the mind."

That's fair enough and I can’t deny Newcastle were dreadful, but the fact was we played extremely well and destroyed them.Originally posted by Baldemort View PostOh i give rafa a lot of credit for that result. It goes hand in hand with the ‘we’re only top because everyone else has been so bad’, completely discounting how well some players have played and some astute substitutions early in the season by Rafa to change games in our favour.
What do people want? How must the team and Rafa feel hearing this sort of this crap echoed from their own ‘best in the world’ fans?If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?
