Deeply disappointed at the moment, and not pleased with Rafa ... more because of Stoke than today. But I truly believe that if we let Rafa go, we can sit back and wait another 18 years while the Scum win everything in sight.

I really don't think he is. I'm not one to slag the manager off as some are, but he really is too cautious. 1-0 up against a team like Everton is not the time to take off Torres. Everton are a cracking side, but lets be honest, you cannot afford to sit back against any team in the premiership, especially when you take off your goal threat.
I've said it numerous times, but I'm sure that if you asked any manager, any defender in the Premiership if they had any concerns playing against a lone Kuyt, I'm pretty ****ing sure they'd answer a resounding no. To take Torres off and move Kuyt into a lone role is madness (for the sake of 5 minutes). It achieves nothing, other than the oppositions defence moves up 5 yards due to the lack of concern, it pushes them into the ascendecy, as it did tonight.
I know that some people think Skyrtel is the dogs, but I see a very average defender. Agger has 10 times the potential of him and where was he?
Lucas for Torres....what was that about? Maybe at 2-0 down with 10 to go but not then.
Its all well and good saying Rafa needs more balls etc, but this is him, this is what he does. We will lose fewer games than Manure between now and the end of the season, but we will draw a handful more, thats the difference.
To be fair, that was definitley the best team that Rafa could've fielded (before the changes) and I think they let him down, we created very little but they fought hard. We had a moment of magic for the goal and then Rafa screwed it up with his subs. Riera was one of our best players, he took him off, but Torres for Lucas took the biscuit.
"If Gerrard continues to play up front, leaving this lack of creativity and intelligence in Midfield, the season WILL be over by Xmas."
I still don't think we'll finish in the top 4 this season."

yes he is
ok we could have played better, but we're playing the same sort of footballt hat the mancs and chavs are playing, just that they are getting the breaks we got at the start of the season.
Still a long way to go.

I find it highly unlikely we will win the league this year and have thought that all year. But we still have a chance and if Keane and Torres can strat firing we will go all the way.Originally posted by -V- View PostWhy not?
16 games to go in the league and we are neck and neck. No reason to be so negative when we are at the top and in contention with much of the season to go.
It's going to look worse before it gets any better though. Wigan away and Chelsea at home is not the sort of fixtures we could do with right now. Having said that, six points and everyone will be praising the ground Rafa walks on again.Forwards.......

It's easy to get carried away but who would have predicted Man U dropping so many points at the beginning of the season?
Let's just see how we react and play until Easter. Man U could drop points too or we both might and Chelsea go unbeaten. It's a tough league!

Man Utd face burning up towards the end of the season to. They have played a lell of a lot of games. I predict that after their next Champions League game they will start to struggle a bit.Originally posted by slimbimjim View Post

That also coincides with us starting to get the easier run in fixture wise.
All is not lost. My money would be on United if I was a betting man, but I would have said that at the start of the season and have not changed that opinion even once yet. I am hopeful, but also realistic.Forwards.......

i'm undecided now - when i left the game last night i was ranting and raving, but i have calmed down this morning - i like rafa i really do - but despite us being either top or very close to the top of the league all season, and having properly the strongest team we've had in over 10 years there is just so much negativity surrounding the club - i don't won't this to be too much of a knee jerk reaction, but all season we have had negative issues - whether it's rafa's contract, unhappy players, stadium issues, ownership issues, parry issues, perfomance issues - there has just been so much ****e going that although i love liverpool to death i am just not enjoying it all anymore if that makes sense - but it's not just liverpool that are suffering - i really feel thta this season the whole of football has died a littlei own everton fans on the internet....that's what i do

The last couple of years had reinforced the fact that there is far more important things than football anyway.
So **** it

I think there are only so many great mangers out there capable of doing this job, and THIS job is far more difficult a situation for a manger than people realise imo, it's huge pressure...and building.
My worry is the alternative, so we get rid of Rafa, what then, who would we really think capable of winning it in his place, i can think of one and i don't like him one bit, i don't think it would be pretty either, would i be prepared to put up with him for the sake of the title, the answer should be yes i know, but Jose, what he could turn our club into..apart from title winners that is, could be nasty, hated, hypocritical.
Or we go with a lesser manager...give him the 5yrs, and if he fails or whoever it is who fails, then we'd probably decide we should give them longer and wish we'd given Rafa a couple more seasons.
It's hard to take...but at the moment we are in the race, and that's with Rafa working under more constraints than Ferguscum, and with lesser tools, an excuse i know, but also a fact, and by the sounds of what Hicks and Rafa have said about transfers not all Rafa's fault.Last edited by Vermilion; 20-01-09, 01:01 PM.
