Eh...so a draw against the bitters, with a goal conceded the last 2 minutes as players failed to execute the marking on a set piece now brings out calls for the managers head?
    Talk about hyperbole!

Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

Our managers get it thrown in their face every single season, every day, the title, how long, etc etc, when will you win it, how will you win it, why can't you win it, any trophies they win are swept under the carpet, almost worthless because everyone knows what Liverpool want most, a bit like Newcastle not winning trophies, look how the pressure effects them..the decision making etc.

It's so underestimated imo, this desperate need for the title and the effect it has on the whole club, yes fans too, but Rafa has no escape, not that he'd want one, but he's only human, he will make mistakes, but what i see is the pressure building to a crescendo, and i don't believe that's going to help us in a race against the scum, especially if we can hang in there and take it right to the end, it will only inhibit us more.

Support is what's needed for now, in Rafa's darkest footballing hour it's us he should be looking to for that most, just till we know for sure what the outcome is, then we can say in the clear light of day whether the season was a success or a failure.

I'd agree, until you said this was Rafa's darkest footballing hour! Don't buy into it yourself!

no i dont think rafa is the right man for the job.

play the best players in their best positions, let the opposition worry about us and always try to win the game. I wouldnt extend his contract and i wouldnt give him the keys to the whole club either.

The only problem is that its ok saying we want rafa to go, however who on earth will replace him ?

my preference is guus hiddink but abramovich has tied him up and there's no way he's going to let him come to us. Who else stands out from the crowd ? If rafa goes, we dont have many options to replace him and we might be worse off without him and wishing we had him back.

Those hoping he will change his philisophy are wrong because he is too stubborn to admit that his ways are wrong and that he wont win the league with his defence first approach.

              For me a definite no.

Absolutely ****ing pointless thread, and all those of you who want him out are an embarrassment to our club.

Oh, and sorry, I missed the bit where we're bottom of the league.
My appologies, I take it all back.

yes, but not until he sorts out his stubbornness (sp)

and gets rid of Kuyt, Lucas and Benny- or at least stops insisting on using them so often

He is the right man for the job, the job being to keep us in the top 4 consistently. We aren't going to win the league anytime soon, if ever. We don't have the funds and Man Utd better than we are. Unless/until Utd get worse, maybe post SAF, we can only really aim to be up near the top. Sacking Rafa to chase a league title will probably backfire and leave us worse off. We need to lower our expectations.

i cant speak for anybody else but for me the thing that pisses me off the most about rafa are the decisions that he makes in terms of team selection and tactics.

Yesterday is a case in point. We go one nil up and you think come on rafa, take off kuyt and bring on masher to hold the midfield with xabi and stick stevie behind fernando. It gives us a much more solid look defensively and offensively it would give everton something to think about.

But he brings on lucas - who in their right mind (apart from dww) would bring on lucas to see out a tight game before mascherano ? His first contribution was a free kick to everton.

Everton played really well yesterday and looked dangerous all night and you'e got to give credit where its due. They harrassed us and kicked us all over the pitch and i didnt think we werent good enough to take all 3 points and so it turned out.

Play your best players in their best positions. Even ballague said that rafa believes that what he is doing is 100% right and he wont even think about changing his ideas. Its arguable that gerrard has single handedly kept benitez in this job for so long and that if it wasnt for super stevie rafa would have been booted out long ago.

tim howard had a lot less to do that reina did and although we had a lot of the ball they looked dangerous on the counter.

I think he is the right man but has to be given complete control over transfers.
