we drew a derby game against a dogged in form everton side. half the site is acting like the league is now a mathematical impossibility. yes, tonights result was ****ing disappointing, but if we win and they lose our next games it all suddenly looks so very different again. there's a long way to go.

Nothing knee jerk about it pal. if one wants to be ****ed off after that then so be it.
The worst thing is, you could see the equaliser coming.Last edited by Marky; 20-01-09, 12:52 AM."Let me say for the record, I am not a gangster and never have been. nice to see a bit of perspective on here.

dont get me wrong mate i believe we will it this season, but people are bound to be pissed off at some of the decisions tonight, even fergie gets stick when results dont go there way, and as Rafa said i will be judged by the fans because they are the most important, and tonight the fans are judging him.Originally posted by Marky View PostNothing knee jerk about it pal. if one wants to be ****ed off after that then so be it.

so what exactly was it that rafa did so wrong tonight? the squad selection was great. keane was **** so he took him off. torres is still coming back from injury so couldn't last the whole game. if he played the whole 90 and got injured that would have been awful. he obviously is not fully fit. yeh, bringing on lucarse was too defensive, but many a manager would have done the same.President of the Ban Smileys Society

Wasn't difficult, bring on Mascha and Babel for the two strikers we took off. We would have won the game 2 or even 3 nil. Without a pacy striker up front the Everton backline pushed up and squashed Alonso's space.Originally posted by Baldemort View Postso what exactly was it that rafa did so wrong tonight? the squad selection was great. keane was **** so he took him off. torres is still coming back from injury so couldn't last the whole game. if he played the whole 90 and got injured that would have been awful. he obviously is not fully fit. yeh, bringing on lucarse was too defensive, but many a manager would have done the same.
Bad tactics from a usually good tactician. However, defensive tendencies will be the end of him (and us).One tit for another.

Not so simple really - I'm sure if he'd have done what you've suggested and still drawn, people would be blaming Rafa, saying why bring on 2 players who have performed so poorly this season?
I think Everton played a good game, they never panicked or let their heads drop after going a goal down - they knew if they could keep it 1-0 till the last 5-10 mins that they could start pushing more men forward and we would get twitchy. They had nothing to lose whilst the magnitude of this game meant we had everything to lose and it paid off for them.
I think Rafa knew this would happen, thats why he brought on an extra midfielder - I'm sure Rafa couldn't have predicted we'd defend that free kick so poorly.
This was always going to be a hard game and ultimately we dropped points because of schoolboy defending.
There is such a fine margin between winning and dropping points - we should have been 3 up and out of sight except for a poor finish from Torres and a shocking decision from the ref. Compare this with Man Utd's win against Bolton - moments before their late winner, Davies missed a sitter from 6 yards - had luck went against them in that game and had we got the luck tonight, we could easily have been 5 points clear at the moment.
Its a shame so many fail to see just how small the margins are at the moment.

Agree we needed a pacy attacker. And if we were going to sit back he needed to bring on Mascher, not Lucas. Yossi is simply not LFC quality and should have been sold to Ajax or the other club bidding £4m-£5m.Forwards.......

It's all should, would, could. We got the breaks at the start of the season, now we are not. However, the amount of draws with low level teams tells a story, as does the amount of one nil wins for the Mancs.Originally posted by rudedog View Post

Clearly a pattern has appeared and we can not put it all down to fluke and luck.Forwards.......

I wouldn't blame Rafa for last night as it was a poor performance by a lot of players. I was happy with his team selection.
I was not happy with Bennayoun coming on but you can't have everything.
It's hardly knee jerk central though. The reaction is not just to this game but the many games that have preceeded it were we have struggled against poor sides, had bizzare team selections and basically looked like anything but champions.
We may not be losing but we are not winning nearly half enough.
