i think the most important thing is that we have shown how to beat them.

compact, solid and let your front runners go at their defence without any fear.

i think this defeat has piled a mountain of problems onto man u.

sure they're the best team/squad etc but i can see them drawing a few matches that would have been wins thanks to the way we played yesterday.

every single team that they play for the rest of the season - and into next - will be studying our gameplan in great detail.

that for me is the most important thing about yesterday. as well of course as the confidence and points booster that it was for us.

Especially coming soon after what was by all accounts a lacklustre performance against Inter and the game where Blackburn nearly got something against them.

We're overplaying the Vidic missing games thing. If Evans is fit he's an able deputy.

We can only hope that other teams realise they can beat them and start to play against them.

Did he do that? I've watched every replay and highlights show and didn't see that. What a suitably pathetic exit after his thumping crash down to earth at the hands of El Nino.
        That's the one...

Evans has been good enough for them but that's been during a winning run, without much pressure.

He hasnt yet been tested when the pressure is on.

As for the ban, i was sure a straight red was a 3 match ban - how can 2 yellows and a straight red have the same punishment?

Fulham are beaten before they get on the pitch when it comes to united.Smashed 3 nil a few weeks ago and laughing about it afterwards. Not to mention their manager singing scums praise before every game against them.

If they drop points it won't be against Fulham

Yeah that's true, but i'm hoping that they will have learnt their lesson.

Surely 3 spankings in a few weeks is too much for Fulham, they'll be more up for it this time.

I reckon Jonny Evans is there for the taking. As has been said he's not really been tested that much - United generally don't have to do much defending - but when he has there's been big signs of weakness.

Oliver Holt and Andy Dunn on Sunday supplement this morning (don't usually watch it but couldn't resist this morning) both echoed this sentiment about United defensive strength. Teams rarely put them under pressure enough to test their resolve.

One game for that offence, another for being sent off previously.

Yes, when he was in the side previously it was to partner Vidic, now he has to replace him. Vidic even makes Ferdinand look a great defender when he is in fact not. Without Vidic to help Evans I think there could be some problems...

Manchester United central defender Nemanja Vidic will be suspended for their next two Premier League matches after his sending off against Liverpool on Saturday.

The Football Association (FA) confirmed Vidic's ban on Monday after he was dismissed during United's 4-1 home defeat to Liverpool, which throws open the English title race.

The Serbian star was forced to haul down Steven Gerrard after making a defensive error and referee Alan Wiley swiftly brandished the red card.

From the resulting free kick, Fabio Aurelio scored Liverpool's third to wrap up the three points.

It was Vidic's second red card of the season -- the first coming in the 2-1 defeat to Liverpool at Anfield in September -- and completed a miserable afternoon.

He was at fault as Fernando Torres equalized Cristiano Ronaldo's penalty opener for United and looked unsettled throughout until his second late blunder.

Vidic, who is tipped to be named player of the year for his outstanding performances in United's quintuple bid, will miss Saturday's trip to Fulham and the home game against Aston Villa on April 5.

Liverpool and Chelsea cut the gap on United to four points, although both have played a game more, to give themselves renewed hope in the race for the Premier League title.

But United's midfielder Park Ji-sung is convinced that they will swiftly recover from the defeat.

Speaking to [url]www.manutd.kr, the South Korean said: "Obviously it wasn't a good result for us, but the league is not over and we're still top.

"If we produce good performances, like we have been doing, for the rest of our league games this defeat will not be a big problem.

"We don't have a match until next weekend, so it's good we can take some rest and get ready to play Fulham."

Vidic is likely to be replaced at the center of defense for the now crucial trip to Fulham by Northern Ireland youngster Jonny Evans

Ferdinand and Evans did fine in the San Siro together.

Villa home is the big one imo, Carew should dominate Ferdinand in the air and Agbonlahor can catch pidgeons so although they are currently playing like a bag of ****e they could nick points on the break.
The King was back for a short while. Long live The King.
