Excellent news and fully deserving. I hope he's with us in some capacity for many years to come.

Oh I remember that thread well. There was just a suspicion that it was already on the Offal when he posted it on here, it's just that no one else had seen it.... However that is unprovable so I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt.

But anyway, Sami deserves another year of playing without a doubt, and it would be great to see him remain on in a coaching capacity after that. The term is overused but he is a bona fide legend in my eyes.

It was being reported on Radio 5 Live that evening before cream started the thread on EST1892. Anyone how can access the podcast from that date from 8.00pm onwards can clearly hear them reporting the news. Insider my arse

                      .
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

The tealady or canteen lady at Anfield fits that description very well.

It wasn't on the offal at all - when he posted it I went there to check and it didn't appear on there for another half hour or so.

Be interesting to see if he is kept on as a player or coach or some combination. His recent performances have been splendid and having him there as a back up seems an ideal way of allowing a young untried player to have a chance without relying on them.

Not all good players make good coaches but Hyypia at least has always been learning and seems to have the right attitude. Probably the defender who has best adapted and even improved as his has got older, the only other contender I guess being Tony Adams.

I think that would be a very good move by the club.
