    Best Manager Around?

    RAFA IS SIMPLY THE BEST

Rafael Benitez is the best coach in the world according to three of the continent's best known newspapers.
Spain's AS and Marca, plus Italian broadsheet La Gazzetta dello Sport conducted online polls asking their readers to vote for the best coach in world football.

Liverpool's manager was an overwhelmingly popular figure and came out on top, winning more votes than the likes of Alex Ferguson, Jose Mourinho, Arsene Wenger, Fabio Capello, Marcello Lippi, Vicente Del Bosque and Barcelona's Josep Guardiola.

In Marca, Rafa got 44 per cent of the vote to finish ahead of Guardiola (28 per cent) and Wenger (7 per cent).

Meanwhile, in AS, Benitez took 34 per cent with Guardiola in second place (19 per cent) and Spain's Head Coach Del Bosque third (15 per cent).

Italy's Gazzetta dello Sport had Rafa out in front with 24.6 per cent, ahead of Ferguson (17.2 per cent) and Mourinho (15 per cent).

When you look at the squad he inherited and what he has achieved since you have to agree. I've had my doubts about Rafa but he's doing one hell of a job.

I'm so glad the man has signed as is Stevie, apparently.
          I love Sarah

as much as I rate him, don't think that we can take the Spanish papers views into account but I'm happy about the Italian one

Opinions from fans in those countries? I think they are fair enough.

Best manager in European competition, no doubt about that. As that is where the best pit there wits against each other you could make a case for Rafa.

But you could also make a case against looking at our performances in the league in seasons gone by.

Not the best manager yet. But I think this season has showed that he is improving.
                  Forwards.......

I love him and believe he is taking us in the right direction and indeed is the man to help us reclaim former glories. Having said all that I am sorry to say that this claim that he is the best in the world is complete nonsense. He is the manager whose team is in the best form, possibly in the entire club game, but nothing else. Best manager in the world? Sorry but that notion is nonsensical given he's not won a trophy since 2006. Let's review at the end of the season. After all, will anyone be saying the same in two months' time if, for example, Man Utd win the league and Barca the CL? Accolades are handed out in May, not now.

Cant get the title of best manager in the world until you've won the league.... Got five years to do so tho (and i have full faith).

Well, he has won it, twice in fact. Just not the English league.

Exactly. So we are now really saying that NO manager no matter what he achieves abroad can EVER be crowned best manager till he manages in the Premiership.

For me, it's all about what a manger achieves with the tools at hand, and in tools at hand i include finance, clubs ability to attract top players pay wages etc.

It's a silly argument really, to judge who is really the best is impossible, too many differing circumstances to take into consideration imo.

Saying that though...Rafa is obviously streets ahead of any other manager. er..imo.

Yes to a point. At the end of the day the Premier League's the best of the best. If a manager wants to prove they are the best, they have to conquer english football.
