I gave up in the 91st minute when Reina did a long kick out that went all the way to the Fulham keeper. About 40 seconds later he had the ball again and did the same long kick, but this time it dropped just shorter to a Fulham player just outside their 18 yard box. Arbeloa did his only decent contribution all game in winning the ball and laying it off to Babel. The dutchman went on a jinking run and seemed to only have eyes for goal as he cut inside and scampered across the 18 yard box, seeminly looking to atone for a few poor choices in the match and unleash a typical Babel blockbuster. As usual for that game he was crowded out but managed to release it to Gerrard. Stevie was immidiately closed down by the impressive Bred Hangeland, but our endeavour paid off as the ball skewered into the path of Yossi Benayoun.Originally posted by Craig_H View PostI know nobody will believe me, but i really hadnt given up. I sat up as I watched this and thought "This is it, win or bust" in the spilt second before he hit the ball I was thinking of all kinds of emotions. My experiences of seeing Yossi in the past filled me with dread and his excursions in that game only made me feel even worse. It's fair to say I did not expect him to score. But I was hopefull.
And when he released a rocket of a shot into the net, I'm not to proud to say I jumped up out of my seat, shouted get in and then ran into my front garden and shouted get in once aain for good measure! Then I thought "Only LFC could do this" and then happily sat and watched the rest of Setanta and watched and listened to the red faithful beltiong out the joyous tones of "We're gonna win the league". I swear, had anyone happened to walk in my living room and seen my face at that moment they would have thought I was awaiting transport to the funny farm!
Incredible.Forwards.......

A lot of bickering going on there, we have them rattled. This is our first serious title chance for a long time, I hope we can keep the pressure up.Originally posted by RoadEnd View Post
It's weird how we dominated the game for 70 minutes, but couldn't score. Then we seemed to have less control of the game, but managed to get the goal we needed. Overall it was the right result, but I'd given up hope by the end if I'm honest. This was such an important game, that goal by Benayoun was as significant as anything we've done this season.

Watching the replay of the match, have to say of all the bits of skill that eluded me in my youth
latching on to a loose ball a la Alonso today (and Gerrard over the years) and directing a meaningful shot at the goal remains my favorite.

Am in the states and we get replay of most games on satellite. In my market we get Fox, Setanta, and Gol TV . Covers Premier League, La Liga, Serie A, Bundesliga, Eredivisie, Clausura, SPL and league championship.

Supporter failOriginally posted by Operation View PostPretty hopeless all in all. Extremely diappointing. Having lost our momentum, I think we're done. It's over. I'm pissed off that I let myself have a second wind of confidence.

I didn't realise originally how well he actually did for the shot minutes earlier when he should have went across goal or squared it for Nando.Originally posted by Craig_H View Post
Yossi's an intelligent player though, who can finish and knows what's required in a given situation. He's someone i'm happy for such a chance to fall to.
His first touch was amazing, taking it past 3 players in a packed Fulham box, then a great dummy under pressure to create the space.
He really is a quality player and some supporters should be ashamed of some of the things they said about him. 21 goals in less than two years from a 'squad' player is some going.
And what a fininsh BTW.
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

Hahaha. All those clowns moaning about 4 minutes injury time.Originally posted by RoadEnd View Post
5 subs = 2 and a half minutes. Plus a minute or so for normal stoppages. Morons.

Anyone who wants rid of Yossi must be ****ing mental. He's just about the dream squad player - popular and liked by everyone, speaks loads of languages, doesn't moan and bitch, and most importantly has quality and contributes around double figures in goals every season. Love the wee man. A lot of fans seem to think he's a downgrade on Garcia. Horse ****. He's an upgrade. Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

He has grown on me a lot. He is a very good player. I don't love him like I did Luis but he is a more consistent contributor. He has been excellent the second half of this season. For me babel is the one whose place in the squad is at risk not Yossi.Originally posted by ShaggyAlonso View PostAnyone who wants rid of Yossi must be ****ing mental. He needs to learn what to do when players counter attack down his wing - too often teams target his flank as a weakness when starting attacks (those that are interesting in doing such things anyway). He seems to have no idea how to use his body and is reluctant to make early tackles at times.Last edited by dww; 05-04-09, 12:33 PM."The man who never alters his opinion is like standing water, and breeds reptiles of the mind."
