    Critical of Torres (for once)...

...I think he missed 2 guilt edged chances for someone of his class - the shot that hit the post in the 1st half & the header in the 2nd from about 5 yards out that went straight to Schwarzer.
And no I'm not trying to find something to be negative about, all I'm saying is thank God we haven't had to rely on him the last 2 games which is a good thing as nobody can score in every single match they play in. So by that logic he is due some goals soon...
Thanks for the memories Rafa - YNWA!

he had a poor game by his standards but the mere fact that Fulham were worried about him and his movement created a lot of the space we found in the first half.

Just another bad day I think. He was in and out of the game wasn't he, but it's nice to see us playing it out wide and really using width rather than going straight for Nando

Like you say though its good to know we can still manage (just about yesterday) without him.

Fernando is above criticism. Even mild, once in a millennium criticism.

He didn't play well against Villa either. But we created a lot of chances in our last two matches, and were the better sides in both, which bodes well.
I understand he was lethal against Real and United, and we could do with that kind of form against Chelsea.

I agree with the poster. Torres is looking a bit low on confidence and so is not looking at his best. Those two chances would have been gobbled up last season.

But I said in another thread that he just needs one goal to set him on his way. One against Chelsea would do wonders, just like last season did.

But the thing with Torres is he doesn't have to be playing well for him to have a positive impact on our team. Opponents fear him and will heavily mark him and will be scared of pushing their back line forward. This gives Gerrard and others plenty of space.

2 games without a goal, shocking. (And no, I'm not counting Spain)

I think he’s still struggling slightly with his latest injury but was so pumped up for the Madrid and United games that adrenaline got him through it. I expect a big performance against Chelsea. Also though he strted off pretty sharp against Fulham, but tired as the game went on.
