    Case for a thrashing:

Man Utd are an excellent team, Porto are probably the weakest team left.

United have players returning who have had extra rest.

They will be feeling good about themselves after a late win.

Porto are the team who lost 4-0 to a full strength (ish) Arsenal side at the Emirates.

    Case against a thrashing

The majority of Uniteds team only had one days rest.

    United are not on form.

This Porto team is the same one that knocked out a decent Atletico side - Who made life very difficult for Liverpool over the two games.

They beat Arsenal 2-0 last time out, denying Arsenal top spot.

Lisandro Lopez, their top striker is on form.

They rested a lell of a lot of players on the weekend and had their game brought back to give them extra rest.
    Forwards.......

        *******

I'm afraid to say if I had to I'd put my money on it would be 3-1 to the Mancs. But with the odds I'd be tempted to go for Porto.

No question, if this was in Portugal my money would be on Porto. They are not as weak as everyone makes out. A bang on form Man Utd would rip them apart, but the Mancs are a long way from being in top gear.

Old Trafford will give Man Utd the edge.

On the other hand, it's a close enough tie for me to be watching them tonight.

In different circumstances I'd have been cheering on Villareal, but I see a bit of light for Porto.

When all is said and done, i think most of us agree that a scum win is very likely tonight.

Dont get me wrong, i'll be watching it too. Mainly though, because i'm going over my folks place tonight and i'd do anything not to listen to them wittering on.

I did with Looprevil. He wrote of Dossena after about two games, which I said was daft but he stuck by his guns. When Insua and Aurelio upped their games I came to the conclusion that Dossena would not make the break through at LB and as such admitted he was right.
              Nuff respect bruv. Touch.

Maybe not quite yet though tbf.... Dossena has looked a totally different player since playing LM.

I still think he's daft, and can not see Dossena being sold this summer.

To be fair the initial debate was over Dossena as a left back, and as such he has done nothing to convince anyone in that respect.

At LW he's looked very good in his few appearances, so maybe he will get a stay of execution.

Personally I'd sell him in the summer. I'm happy at LB, and I want something more from a LW.

Agreed. I still think he will be gone in the Summer.

Could see at least 2-0 to the scum tonight, if not more.

Hope to be proved wrong, but IMO porto are ****e.

If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

Two of those quotes were correct

"They wont" - about mancs losing - and they didnt (unfortunately)

And despite the outcome, a home win WAS the most likely outcome - just didnt happen that way

I've posted my views on the thread in the general footy forum, though.

Terry is on a yellow and I can't see him getting through the game - trying to stop Nando and Stevie - without being booked.
